Ok, so I'm slow....

Just got a 200g pressing of Miles Davis' classic "Kind of Blue".

Wow....grins and tears! What a classic.

I could listen to this every day.

There are a couple of spots where I think the master has some saturation clipping, but overall the pressing is dead quiet and the music/musician is beyond description......

Is that a Classic Records release?

    Yes.

There are a couple of questionable pressing anomalies, though - in the first track "So What".

Two instances of bursts of what I would call 'white noise' - as if the master pressing had dirt or debris.

There are two spots on that track where there is about a 1/2 second of "splat" noise.

I've cleaned the record several times, checked the VTF, etc and the noise is in the same spots all the time.

But, aside from these two spots - the pressing and mix is quite impressive.

I've received copies of Classic Records releases where the vinyl pressing itself was fouled up and I sent the LP back for exchange. Their product is absolutely excellent but sometimes an LP gets crushed or doesn't come out of the press cleanly. I would call you supplier and see if you can exchange it for another copy.

I have lots of experience with heavy vinyl purchases and there have been several occasions where I found it necessary to return them for exchanges. It's a pain in the **** but a fact of life.

There's no reason why you should spend that kind of coin on such a great record and have any issues at all with it. Just my humble opinion.

I would love to get a copy of "Kind of Blue" by Classic Records!

Where did you get it on vinyl? I was thinking of getting the CD at Soundwaves after work, but may try to find it on LP.

Get it. It's absolutely a "must have". If you don't like it, I'll buy it from you for full price. :)

I saw it on the Musicdirect site today. At $39, I'll get the CD for about $12. Gotta watch my $$$, that's why I'm interested in Polk towers and not Paradigm. Your dollar goes alot farther with Polk.

Several entities sell that LP. There's plenty of ammunition and room to haggle and get the price down. For me, if I had the money I would buy the Classic Records 200gm pressing in that they are spectacular and I have yet to hear a CD or even an SACD come close to the SQ of those vinyl pressings.

Wild - bill, if I were you, I would save up my money and then haggle the price down on the 200gm pressing, you won't be sorry and I haven't even heard that one yet but have many, many Classic Record 200gm pressings.

You like how I spend your money!?!:D;):p
