In my experience, I noticed no difference. Perhaps I am not a discerning enough listener. Unless you buy really expensive wire, the cost of trying it out is so small that it wouldn't hurt to just give it a shot

    Cons: requires more wire
Pros: if you had poor jumpers, you no longer have them.
in your mind, you are forced to think that the sound is better because you have added more cables :)

I'm sure someone with more experience will respond.

I have RTi8's bi-wired using Canare Star Quad 4s11 (with four conductors together in one outer jacket and so simple to use in a bi-wired application and inexpensive at $1.35/foot) with my Onkyo A-9555 and heard no difference. Wondering why, I looked at a wiring diagram and saw all bi-wiring effectively does is move the jumper from the speakers to the amp. But I also saw no advantage to return to conventional wiring (other than reclaim 4 spades) so I am still bi-wired.

Thanks you all, Still not understanding the significance though, I was under the impression you needed a seprate amp for your highs and mids in the system. The speakers I am trying the experiment on are a pair of RTi A-6's as fronts, and an entire RM7500 set for surround, rears, and center powered by a str-da7100es.

That is "Bi-amping" which many will say is a will improve the sound, as opposed to "Bi-wiring" which uses one amp and did nothing for me. There are many threads, so try Search

Some amps have separate posts for bi-wiring... just thought I'd add that... dunno why.
