Hello everybody,

i was wondering if there is a device that lets you choose which amp to use for the speakers.

Let me explain myself, i would like to use my pioneer elite receiver to power up my 5.1 system, but would like to use my preamp with rotel power amp when i want to listen to music.

The catch is that both the 5.1 and the 2 channel rig will be using my front rtia7 (not at the same time of course), since there are speaker selectors to power up different pair of speakers using one amp i wonder if the contrary exists as well a device to choose an amp from two, to move a pair of speakers.

I hope that the question made sense,

regards,

eduardo

So you're looking for some kinda 'box' that you can connect to your front speakers that accepts two sets of speaker wire (one from each amp), but only uses one at a time (or the same thing before the amps)?

I'm sure you could make a simple device like this with a manual switch that you would switch at each speaker (or one manual box before the amps) with items you have in your garage. Probably just a slight bit easier than having two sets of wires on banana plugs leading to the speakers and just plugging in whichever you are using.

Maybe someone that builds demo rooms could enlighten us on how it can be done a bit more professionally.

I have seen speaker selector that allow multiple amps and multiple speaker selections.
Niles, maybe? They will be called 2x4 ect...

might be simpler/ better (?) to use the Rotel amp for all applications, if your Pioneer has preouts.IDK if the loss from all the extra connections would offset the gains from using your preamp...depends on what you have.

A pre with HT bypass might work.
