Intentional, or just inept?

I was in BB the other day, looking at Blue Tooth headsets. Specifically 2 of the Plantronics set-ups. One was $99, the other was $79.
Well the higher priced one had a bigger piece that hooked on the back. I didn't like that, so I wanted the other(cheaper) one.
Here's the problem: They had 5 slots dedcated to the cheaper one, and marked at the cheaper price, BUT, they were all filled with the higher priced one.
Now, if you weren't paying attention, you'd be paying for, or almost paying for something you didn't want.

So, are they just lazy, or is it intentional?
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

so something was put in the wrong place at a store?

I must say, this happens quite often... last time it happened with goldfish crackers, I hardly think it was a scheme to get me to buy pringles :)

Actually, some stores will honor the lower price of a misplaced object.

I got a $69 dollar flashlight at target for $25 because it was on the wrong rack. Funny thing too, they didn't even check... I just said "it said $25" and the guys like.. "ok".

Sorry, the last flashlights I bought were LED jobs at the 99 cent store for the kids to walk the beach at night. What kind of flashlight costs $69? Are we talking a 'tire thumper' large Maglight or some such?

i posted a link to a similar one. It's like an aluminum body flashlight with a 1 or 1.5 watt (something like that) led in it. As it turns out, it's a POS... it isn't all that bright (though it's better than a lot of lights) and the batteries are $16!!!!!!

Next time I know to get one that runs on AA's or AAA's!!

BB always seems to be full of kids that cant answer simple questions about anything and there prices are off the scale 200% markups compared with online prices. Its always my last last resort to shop there . The stockboy probably could not tell the difference, salesman either for that matter,if i do go into a BB its usually to see a product i intend to buy online for less than half what they charge. ie cables an such would be one example.

Hah so true. My only other reason for going to best buy is if I want to "expedite" my RMA or solve a problem with bad customer service... this usually involves buying an identical product, and returning the defective one with the new receipt. This way, the product gets back to the manufacturer whether they like it or not :)

For the most part, I would say inept. I have yet to see anyone at BB half as knowledgeable as Microcenter. An employee could have accidentally put them there, or after a customer put on in the wrong spot, subsequent customers did the same thing without looking, and they didn't reorganize at night or missed it. But to have that many in the wrong spot... just remember: "Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity."

As for the flashlight, it's hard to find a good one. I have had my eye on one that is around $70 for just a penlight. Things to consider: Is it water-proof? To what depth? Heat resistant? Durable? Focusable? Consistent? (a light which has hotspots and dark areas will make it hard to see) Bright? How long does it last? How small is it? How much does it weigh? How far does it penetrate in the dark? These are all important considerations depending on whether it's used by a doctor, backpacker, part of an emergency pack, etc.

whoa dude. I remember when a flashlight was just a flashlight :D

There is a certain point in your life when you learn that every simple household item has it's counterpart that costs 10 or even 100 times as much. I wish this wasn't so :p
