Bi-Amping Monitor 60 Series II's

Hello all,

I just got some Monitor 60's up front and was planning to bi-amp them (or at least try it out). The cable I will be using is Monoprice 12 gauge. My receiver, the Sony STR-DH810, has the option to output the surround rear channels as front bi-amps for a 5.1 setup. When I connect the cables, should I remove the bar connecting the two sets of speaker inputs on the 60's? Also, should I worry about which cables carry the high or low frequencies? My receiver manual mentioned something about this, but I couldn't tell if the inputs on the speakers were labeled Hi and Lo. I've never bi-amped before, so I know very little about it. Thanks!

Yes you have to remove the jumper. The top binding posts are your high range. The bottoms are your low.Hope this helps and welcome.

I think trying things out, no matter what you read on these forums, is the best learning experience.

Just to elaborate off of cnoat, the mains outlets from the receiver should be connected to your high post on the speaker, while the surround outlet connects to your low post.

    For sure, remove that jumper.

    Welcome!!!

Hey SpartanStang14, I'm about to do the same with my new Monitor 60's and Monoprice 12 gage, and banana plug the receiver side. Please let me know how you made out. Your configuration should be like TOR13 says. Really interested in your observations.

I have my monitor 60's bi-amped that way and i noticed a difference. The mids and lows seemed more present and clear to me, maybe it's my imagination but it never hurts, especially if youre not using 7 channels anyways. Good luck.

Thanks for those comments. I am about to start the process of rewiring my whole system with the 12ga, and am going to bi-amp the Monitor 60 II's at the same time.
