Passive Radiators

I looked up Passive Radiator (speaker design) on wikipedia and there is no reference to polk audio...
but that being said - i was at my local Value Village thrift store today and took the lattice grill off a pair of vintage realistic speakers only to find a tweeter, an 8 inch midrange and an 8 inch passive radiator. The model number the Nova 10.
Maybe I didn't assume that Polk innovated the passive radiator -- maybe they just perfected it
They were asking $14.14 for them. I suppose that's a fair price as they were cosmetically in pretty good condition.
