Polk Power Port Question
My RTi8's (and RTia5's and the LSi series) have Polk's "Power Port" technology while I do not think the TSi500 does.
I'm curious what this means and how much difference it makes or maybe this is "old technology" and so not in newer speaker lines. Does anyone know?
I'm sorry I crossed posted this in another thread "Yet another TSi500 vs RTi A5 question " but I hoped more members would see my question here.

Power port is a plate mounted on the back of a port.
Instead of the air being pushed out into the room, it is dispersed over a plate of a certain size and tuning. This allows the speaker to have great bass response whether the port is coupled to a wall or not -- it also allows the bookshelves to be mounted on the wall without affecting tuning.
It is a brilliant idea. The Power Port and ARC port is some great Polk technology used in their upper end series.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
My RTi70's have the power port on the bottom underneath the cabinets whereas my RTIA7's have it on the back. They both work exactly as described above.SDA-1C (full mods)

Does this mean that when I am looking at Polk speakers, LSi & RTi are Polks "Upper End" series and so VM, TSi and R/T/M are the "Lower End"? -
The VM series uses passive radiators which IMO are better than any port. Whether the VM series is lower end is subjective - just a different design goal...
TSi, Monitor, R, etc - lower end.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
