I use the 5503, I am sure the 7607 is a good amp.

Are you looking for suggestions of other amps that would be in the same territory/price/performance envelope of the 7607?

Adcom amps are OK, I would go with a used Sunfire Theater Grand.
Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t

Adcom has a nice price around $1000...the Sunfire I can get at $2200 with shipping...waiting a couple of weeks wont kill me if the quality is there

txcoastal1 are you only looking to buy new? There are a lot of quality amps available on the used market.

+1 on looking into the used market, you would be surprised what you can find on Craigslist/Ebay/Audiogon these days. Those LSi's love power and deserve it too, lol. You don't know what you are missing by powering them with your AVR. Seems like you have your head on straight with the volume knob, an important thing to remember while you are looking for amps. Good luck.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advise as I have finally purchased and installed my Sunfire TGA7201 this weekend a long with audioquest IC's and 10awg speaker cables for the fronts. Made a huge difference and brightned upthe music and movies plus I got to cranks it up. Even the kids noticed while watching watching Transformer 2 that the rears were more noticable. thanks CP. I also went home to San Antonio and pick up my old teenage viynl and grabbed some of my mom's collection...w/permission...looking foward to finding I nice turntable to add as my passion for music has been rekindled
