Ames IA is more or less my hometown. It's very sad to see this happening again, and to the extent that happened in 1993. The location where the girl drowned is very close to where I went to high school. The town of Colfax in the video is right on I-80 and just 14 miles south of our family farm.

The family is OK. I have friends that are not OK. Unfortunately there's a limit to the amount of water that heavy farm equipment can get through to get food, fuel, pumps, generators, etc. in ..... or get them out. Often times when livestock is involved you can't just abandon the ranch.

This seems to be happening somewhere in the US two or three times every year now. Anyone who doesn't think climate change is real, is just keeping their heads in the sand.

Last September, some parts of Atlanta were wiped out. Earlier this year, parts of Nashville and Memphis were hit bad. Now this? Wasn't another part of Iowa hit just 2 years ago?

Our climate has been changing since the earth was formed. There's no argument about climate change, it is real. How much of recent history's climate change is due to the human race and how much is just the natural progression of our planet is another debate.

This was not meant as a thread to make a point on climate change or political issues. When people are drowning they'll take the hand of someone no matter what political persuasion they are.

I'm not trying to get political. I think its tragic and I wish more people would open their eyes and see what is happening. Its not just the climate, its also from poor planning/development that did not consider the impact to the watershed.

Of course there is climate change. It's been going on since God said, "let there be light!" It doesn't mean that we humans are the cause of it as it is a natural occurance.
