Hi there!

Does anyone know which model these are as I have just purchased?

They have the "polk audio" badge on the front of the black cloth covers at the bottom.

I need to know whether this is the early model running 4 or 6 ohms or whether this is an 8 ohm speaker.

Please help as my amplifier needs to know!

:)

I can't tell 100% from the pictures, but I agree with zippty..the 6.5" drivers look like they have been replaced.

But to answer your question, the specs page reports these speakers run at 8ohms.

Tad larger of an image showing how the driver should look. (Google)

    Peerless tweeters. Good.
    Knock off mids. Bad
    Passive radiators look correct.
If there is no damage to the wood where the mids mount, you may be able to salvage a damn fine set of bookies.

And...whatever you do do, crackbuzz, do not tell anybody here I talked anything about audio.

The spec page you quoted above is for the Mon 7 Series II, which is not the speakers he has. He has the Earlier version Mon 7b, with the Peerless tweeters.
His "Correct drivers" are actually different as well. The first ones had a Masonite ring, like is shown on his passive radiators.

I believe the Mon 7B's are 6 ohm (But it is lateand I am too tired to look it up), but that being said, I have read that the switch just limits the receiver. If you don't krank it, then it is probally okay set at 8 ohm, but that is just what I have read...

Thanks for trying to help, though :D

The Model (Monitor) 7 were listed as 8 ohms
    Monitor 7A were ?
    Monitor 7B were ?
Monitor 7C were early 4 Ohms, later 6 Ohms
    Monitor 7 Series 2 were 8 Ohms

With the wrong mid-woofer, who knows.

I'll rip the mids out and check the make... They look like VIFA?

If I chuck a meter across the terminals it should show mw the impedance?

Also where could I get some genuine mids for these?

    Thanks

The best place for the vintage MW's is on the Forum. You MIGHT find a pair on EBay, but who knows about them. Try posting a "WTB" thread. They come up from time to time. Good luck

I will replace the polk mids when I find a 6.5 incher that will suit, although they do sound quite nice with everything running together!

    :)

You might want to show some up close detailed pics of your crossovers so you can get the correct mid woofers for those.

I have located some 6.5 inchers...

    POLK AUDIO MW7005 drivers.

They are the correct ohm rating.

Do you think I can use these as a replacement for the ones that have been thrown in at the moment?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

There is more to it than ohms. The original would have been an MW65xx series and most likely MW6502.
