Does anyone know anything about these old Technics and Yamaha speakers?

Hello fellow frequenters of the board!

I'm setting up a stereo system mainly for vinyl use.

I've been offered a couple of pairs of speakers and wondered if anyone knows anything about them or has any experience of them.

They are:

Technics model SB-L40

Yamaha speakers Model NS-A2835

Thanks all!

I'm actually mainly interested in the Technics ones, visually the Yamaha ones just don't do anything for me.

I'm surprised how little info there seems online about the Technics.

They sound like the same kind of cheap stuff everybody was making back in the early 90's. Technics was the name for Panasonic's "hifi" lineup back then. Big paper woofers in sealed cabinets. I had a pair of Pioneers that were very similar and I loved them for a long time. They put out some really nice mid-bass but imaging and highs were almost non-existent.

Thanks for that, they don't sound too appealing!

I think I'll carry on looking.

I had technics and pioneer speakers as well. They looked great and thought they sounded pretty good until I recently got a real set of speaker, Polk RTA-12C. Never knew speakers could sound so darn good.
