What a new preamp in the chain can do.

Not a new preamp....just a older one I had that hasnt been used in a few years.

Well my H&K AVR 5 that John here on the forum gave me finally took a dump this morning on me. Think it may just be the volume knob needs cleaning cause its not changing the volume level at all now.

I had been contemplating changing it out for my Onkyo P-301 preamp. Just got done hooking it up to the M-504 and wow what a difference! I have cut the subwoofer completely off now! lol This preamp really woke up my Monitor 10's.

Thanks to Freddy for giving me some pointers on the phone the other night. I just gotta hook up the dedicated surround processor now. The wife is gonna love me for going back to all separates now!

So yeah... I am just stoked how much better things sound now. Now I just gotta get my hands on some better IC's the speaker cables. :p

You better plan on some new tweeters now that she can crank em up.

    Hey Gary!

Sucks about the AVR but hey at least you'll be able to go with separates like you originally wanted!

If you want, I've got an extra pair of MIT Terminator 6's you can have. Ben's silver speaker cables were here waiting for me when I got back from Texas and wow. Anyway, just let me know if you want them.

    Replied.

They were a huge step up from my Belden speaker cables I had awhile back so I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I did :)

Thanks so much! I am sure these will be a huge step up from my cheap Monster cables.

I was listening to some vintage Sting this afternoon when the wife came home. She even asked "what is different, the stereo sounds better". :)

Another example of why CP is such a cool place to hang! :)
