I received mine today, I was pleasantly surprised when I went to install them. I got 3 installed and went to reach in the box and it was empty! Called customer service and they said they were sold out.

I just ordered a set two days ago, for my M10b's and just emailed Polk to get some tracking information about them. So I could watch them come cross country from California. I am in Florida. When I ordered no one said anything about being sold out? H'mmmmmm?

I think the shortage is a sign of people rediscovering just how great Polk audio's earlier designs were. I think the older monitor series are finding new owners by the hundreds and they're getting them so cheap that an upgraded tweeter or two is WELL worth it.

By the time I'm done, I'll have ordered 10 RDO-194s and maybe even more. I like their sound personally.

I just ordered a second set of RDO-194's to go with my 5jr's. This time the I was informed of a ship date of 15 Sept.. I was told that the tweets do not stay in stock too long due to all the upgrading going on. I have a set of RDO-198's on the way for my Monitor 7 Series 2's. At least they will be here sometime next week. I'll know more on the 198's when I get the tracking info.

While I am still waiting for the RDO-194-1's I ordered. I received the RDO-198-1's to replace the SL2500's in my Monitor 7 Series 2, this morning. FEDEX left them on my doorstep. I do not remember if they rang the doorbell or not. Not too bad for ordering them this past Monday 16 Aug. Now to figure out what to use for a temporary seal when I swap them out. If there is a modification to the cabinet involved or a straight swap, please let me know. I am still waiting to order the caps for the crossover parts. I need to absorb these latest expenditures before I progress.

Use Mortite brand or another brand of the thinnest rope caulk you can find. Lowes, Home Depot, those types of stores carry it.

It's a straight swap. Just be careful when you tighten, do it corner to corner evenly.

I'd also recommend you "seat" the tweeter with the rope caulk by applying even pressure on the tweeter housing while already placed in the baffle before you attempt to tighten with the screws. It makes it easier and less prone to stripping the wood screws. Over the next week as the caulk settles you should check to make sure it's still snug.

Do not over tighten you could risk stripping the holes in the particle board baffle.

Use a few pieces of wax paper and a rolling pin to flatten out the Mortite. Then it becomes easier to place and later screw it in, plus you get a better seal.

The 194's arrived by an Orange Ryder Delivery truck. Apparently FEDEX is having to rent trucks or it was in the shop? Two sets, two boxes. One set with notes on some minor fitting problems if used with SDA speakers. Relating to the alignment of the RDO-194's plastic shroud screw holes alignment to the original mounting holes of the SL-1000/2000 tweeters. Other than that, they look nice.

Thanks for the tips on mounting the tweeters. I'll be preparing to obtain the capacitors and resistors next for the crossover refit. Not sure if I want to do the M7s2's first or the M10b's. We will see when the time comes.:D
