RTi10 much better than Monitor 70 in HT. much detailed forward tweeter makes HT extremly involving.
for music Monitor 70 is better, only because RTi10 is too bright for music.
since you have a good amp, i highly recommend to get RTi12/RTIa9.

Keep it timber matched with the RTI 10. It will sound better for ht.

You said it would sound better for HT. Would it sound the better or the same for music? I'm looking at some 70s myself.

I have RTi A7's which are pretty much the same as Rt10's and I also have TSi500's which are pretty much the same as Monitor 7's. I drive them with an Emotiva XPA-5 and an Onkyo TX-NR807 used as a pre/pro.
I can tell you first hand, the RTi's are better for both HT as well music in my room. I do like the 500's, its just that I like the A7's more. A much more open and clearer sounding midrange is the biggest difference but better bottom end and highs as well.

RTi/RTiA models are more expensive, and above the monitor/tsi series for a reason.
Because they are better quality and better sounding speakers. I have 3 friends who have monitor series speakers, and I owned the RTi8s. I would go with the RTi series everytime.
    No brainer in my opinion.

I wish I'd gotten one sooner! Better late than never, however.
Sound overall is much mor open, better seperation between instruments, and listener fatigue has not been a factor for me so far.
And it runs much cooler than the Onkyo ever did.

Having picked up an XPA-5 myself, I wouldn't pair it with the RTi's. It's a pretty bright amp, and doesn't have good synergy with the RTi's.

I have an XPA-5 driving my system right now, with FXi3's driving my rears...the highs from my rears are a bit much with the XPA-5.

You definitely want a warmer amp with the RTi's. I was using an HK amp (very warm) with my RTi8's, and they had a very good synergy. Part of me wants to go back to the HK even with my LSi's.

    Just my 2 cents.

which HK amp would you get in a 5 Ch?

The jury is out on whether or not I like the XPA-5. I'm going to play with the EMO for a couple of weeks and try my HK again, but I'm not terribly impressed with the XPA-5 so far, even coming from an amp that has half as many watts. It's brighter and has more 'sparkle', which brings my LSi9's to life for movies, but it isn't nearly as detailed as the HK. The separation of the instruments isn't as good...the bass is muddier, and subtle details like a singer taking a breath that were present with the HK, are lost with the EMO.

I spent money on the EMO and want to like it, but I'm not completely sold on it yet.

All of that is more subjective though. From a more objective standpoint, the EMO is definitely very forward in the upper frequencies....at least relative to the HK. I'm not saying you should go with an HK necessarily (you'll want something more powerful for the RTi10's), but the RTis defintely benefit from a warm amp. In my experience with my Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 and the RTi8's, the HK really brought out the mid-range and gave the 8's a much fuller sound that didn't favor the tweeter quite as much. Some say the EMO is bright, others say its neutral.....all of that is relative to what you're used to, but the EMO isn't by any means a warm amp.

    just my 2 cents.

Purchased my NAD T955 at Audio Advisor on sale and well within your budget. Couldn't be more happy with the way it works with the RTi setup. No brightness, no listening fatigue, just an excellent, very musical amp.

And it does a great job with HT!

Those 100 watts per channel are legit - real power. But if you're having second thoughts about replacing your current gear with a single five channel unit I can't imagine you wouldn't be happy with the just the speaker change.

Incremental change is always a good idea ...

Yes, I like the XPA-5 with the RTi's. I run Audessey from my Onkyo TX-NR807 and the end result is very good. The only thing I have to play with is the bass level. The high end sounds fine to me. But as I said, I've always run Audessey first whenever I add new equipment.
