Some seller advised me to go with a 12v SLA battery to power my Arthur DAC

Thats too much of a hassle to go and build DC power supply from scratch..

What would be a good outboard power supply I could get for around 100.00-300.00 range.
The arthur uses 12VDC

I picked up a power supply for a XBox 360 at my local thrift. Seems to have good clean 12v power. Just a thought.

Thanks but Im looking for something along the monolythic HC-1 or 2 or anything else like that.I imagine thier common upgrades for phono pre users but what about one for a dac.Mel over at camelot wants a crazy amount of money for the charm 2 DC power supply.

Agreed. Get a good 12 VDC supply.

I can't recommend any as I've always built power supplies from scratch. I personally would be using a toroidal transformer, some serious filter caps(because I can) and a variable regulator to make the beast.

I tried searching google but I come up with garbage....still looking though.

Can't go wrong with an Astron, and would fit well under budget.

They build solid power supplies, some say they're noisy, others say they go overkill on the filtering. Either way, they've been around a while. I've owned a LS-35A (35 amp unit) for over 20 years. If it ever goes bad, I won't be brand shopping.

We use these for high controller automation because once component is in place the voltage can be tweeked to exact voltage

IDEC's PS5R series, the new standard in switching power supply technology. Output power ranges from 7.5W to 240W allow your power supply to grow with your needs. With UL508 Listing, you may even be able to use a smaller power supply than you do currently. The outputs are available in either 5VDC, 12VDC or 24VDC, are adjustable +/- 10%, short circuit protected, and regulated to a 2% maximum ripple. Unique spring up terminals allow easy installation of ring lugs, and built in DIN rail clips require no additional brackets (all units are also direct surface mountable).

All models, except the 100W unit, have a universal input that accepts 100-240VAC (or 110-350VDC). The PS5R is truly a power supply designed with a world market in mind, as evidenced by the UL508 listing, c-UL Listing, TUV approval, and CE marking (EN60950, EN50081-2, and EN50082-2).
