My wife told me I need a new CD player

Listening to the 2-channel rig today and the dang Denon is skipping a lot still even after servicing. She told me a few minutes ago that once we get moved, I need to get a new CD player. :D Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Open for suggestions. I want something higher end, possibly tubed and SACD would be nice.

    You could:
    1) Buy a NuForce Oppo 83
    2) Buy a Cambridge Audio 840c


    Then at the fall San Diego Polk Fest, I can decide which one to take off your hands! :D:p

    H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music.

    lol... I say take her out to dinner just to let her know how priceless she really is. I woun't suggest shoe shopping, but flowers might be a nice touch.

    As far as a CDP, Face has an awesome value with his Marantz. It is listed in the FS section.

    Flowers for sure. She can't understand other wives who don't let their husbands enjoy their hobby......

    Realistically....what kind of budget are we talking about when you say 'higher end'?

    I heard a Cary CDP when I auditioned my B&Ws that had a big wow factor....but too big of a hit to my wallet!

    It wasn't tubed, but it had a warm sound with a tremendously deep (front to back) soundstage.

    I think the Cary 306 is a CD/SACD player that has gotten some vg street buzz.

    That Marantz is a nice unit..although not a tubed piece.

    All I an say from my experience abroad is that the NEW (Shenda) Music Van (Jolida suit aside--I've seen this and heard it) sounded pretty good indeed....has two tube stages for input and output and used tubes as 'rectifiers'; it represents a step up from their previous 100 series and also features two arc transformers that are pretty hefty. It's also, I think, in your price range. Just a thought!

    I have a sweet Jolida 100 9/10 with Ei Elite gold pins I might consider selling..it doesn't do SACD but it's killer for redbook cds!

    It's boxed up and ready to go $575.00 shipped to your door.

    Or..

    How about a Nad C542..does hdcd but not SACD 9/10 also.
