So assume a lot of you know...Brett maybe done this year unless his ankle is better ect ect and lots of drama.

Do you guys really think he might be done, or its just like the last 2 or 3 times he was retired?

Personally I think he should hang up the cleats and should have a long time ago, but seeing I'm a packer fan, its in my blood I think to view it that way. :D

As a Viking fan, I think you are wrong in saying he should have hung it up... The man should be able to play until he says he's done. Where I agree is that he needs to either **** of get off the pot, so to speak. He know by now that he wants to play and whether or not he is up to it.

Brad Childress blew it in this year's draft by not going after a QB and again when he chose to not grab one through free agency. My gut however is that Brett will play and will start every game this season, though it is very likely that he will only play the first half until his ankle is fully healed.

Favre will probably retire when Generalissimo Francisco Franco finally actually dies.

(most of you are probably too young to remember Franco's last days... or months... although you may have seen some of Saturday Night Live's lampooning of the issue -- "Generalissimo Francisco Franco... is... still... dead!")

LOL, how many training camps has the drama queen participated in over the last 5-6 years? I'll believe he's retired when the season starts without him, though I still wouldn't put it past him to want back in at mid-season, when he gets bored.

I'm glad it isn't 'our' problem anymore. I was pissing any moaning about our team wanting to move on from all his attention loving, waffling B.S., but in hindsight I'm 100% glad we did. Now its someone else's problem and we have a better QB long term.

See, I hate the Vikings, but if I was a Viking fan I would be pissed off. The Vikings passed on a great QB class in this years draft and they passed by free agent QBs all on the hopes Butt Favre comes back.

...and what if he doesn't? You've got a very good team, but does anyone think Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels is going to take your team to a Super Bowl? Fat chance, but it would be hilarious if Butt retired and that happened. It would be even more hilarious than what happend last year, which will be tough to top.

Keep pissin' on that legacy, Butt.

I think anyone who says the name "Brett Favre" before the season starts should be thrown into a wood chipper, Fargo-style. Doesn't that jackass hillbilly get enough attention?

I would like to see him come back so Lance Briggs can smash him into little purple pieces in Soldier Field. Then I would like to see him retire:p

First off, in full disclosure, I BLEED PURPLE blood when cut.

"Iron Man" Brett WILL be back! We'll see how serious the ankle injury is by WHEN he comes back. If he's still not on the team after the bye week - week 3 - then we may be able to say he actually is retired. Prior to that happening, I won't believe any statement to that effect.

The Vikings have a very good, well-rounded team, and NO ONE MAN is the whole deal, but without Favre, at best we might be a wild card team. With Jackson or Rosenfels at the helm, I'm afraid a Super Bowl appearance is a pipe dream at best. Of strong concern is the fact that the Vikings did little to beef up their O-Line in the offseason. Yes, they had some injured linemen last year and their passing game was either first or second in the league, but Favre still took too much of a beating, especially for a 40-yr old. Minus the beating taken - several AFTER the whistle - in the Saints game, I'd be CERTAIN he'd be back for at least another season.

I truly believe that not being able to play the Saints again, in the season opener, will just about kill him. That's just the kind of guy he is.

As far as the Vikings' fans are concerned, I don't think there are too many who really care that he isn't in training camp. He wasn't last year either and he had arguably the best season of his career. He threw 33 TDs to ONLY 7 interceptions! Prima donna? Attention seeker? I'd say NOT! He really doesn't say much of anything and really tries to avoid the press at all costs. However, the media just can't leave him, or the story, alone. Why don't they just say NOTHING to him or about him until he reports to the Vikings or announces his retirement? That would be a very welcome change, especially with the Twin Cities media!

As far as picking up another QB, we certainly could/should have made a run for McNabb prior to his signing with Washington - especially since Brad Childress used to be the O-Coordinator for Philly with McNabb as his QB! Other than that, they picked up Joe Webb (6th round in the draft) who has shown too much promise to be slipped onto the practice team without another team picking him up from waivers. But, he's also quite the raw talent, that won't be of much value THIS SEASON. Therefore, I think Rosenfels (making $2M - $3M to play 3rd string!!) might be the odd-man-out and may be "showcased" in the preseason to try to get something for him by way of trade.

And further.....oh, what was the question again?

There's a bunch of us "jackass hillbillies" here. I'm not a BF fan. Ya can't take away what he's done but it's to the point he should have retired a couple of years ago and not held on so long as to tarnish what he's accomplished in a substantial career.

I hardly think his performance last season tarnished his image.

Very true, and I know of other players in the NFL that would have taken a seat on the bench in that one rather than suck it up and give it their all. Say want you want about Brett Favre, but if ever there was an example of courage, honor and determination, I saw it against the Saints. I hope he comes back if for no other reason than to show the youngsters in the NFL and those playing Pop-Warner or just sitting on the couch what it means to man up and do your very best regardless of the situation.

I'll believe it when I see it, next year, at the Cowboys new stadium, when the super bowl is being played and "The Anointed One" has not set one toe on a football field in anger.

That is the MEDIA you are speaking of...

but why does the media cover it? because they know its a big ol' dramafest because he's going to be a big baby and whine all summer long and make it to be some big secret if he's coming back or not.

First he wasn't because of a text, now its UNKNOWN due to the condition of his ankle. He's just playing the media to get attention and its annoying as crap. He just needs to be done and get it over with and do it for once and for all.

Hell the way he's going he'll be in a wheelchair talking about a come back...
