Hello everybody,

i was just curious that my rotel rb990bx power amp heat more from the right side than the left. It still sounds great and evenly on both speakers (rtia7) but for sure the right side on top of the amp is hotter than the left.

Anybody familiar with rotel could tell me if this is normal, in case it is not what can be the cause and what can be done to fix it.

Regards,

eduardo

The bias needs adjustment. You can't do it, so take it to an audio tech or send it in to Rotel.

Hi Edwardo & everybody on forum ,

i've recently noticed that my loved one power amp Rotel RB-990bx heats up more from the right side as well than the left.

Did you try to fix yrs Edwardo since you had experienced same issue // was the problem a bias adjustment or else ? Is it easy to be done if have a service manual in hand..? (I have it!)

Thanks in advance to all of you that can come up with an answer to my problem..

    Regards,
    Emmanuel

Hi dear & thanks for getting back to me.. I might try do it myself.. I have some tools & will read serv.manual..

Lets say suppose has an amp with same issue(bias adj.) but wont notice it so amp stays that way , is that dangerous ?

    Best regards,
    Emmanuel

Do you happen to have an ultra sensitive digital volt/ohm meter? A pair of mean nothing elcheapo if they blow they blow speakers handy ? Are you comfortable working around high capacitance parts that could actually kill you if you make the wrong move inside a working piece of electronics ?

    Hi dear ,

Well , I have some skills on electronics & own some tools .. also a voltmeter but not a digital one.. I should get one..
Those beefy capacitors are rated / 80v 15000mf each ... I will read tech manual & will update..
