DC Wire or Plug amp into Receiver?

As the title states, which is the better route to go to avoid manually turning on the amp? I have a monster hts1600 so would running the actual plugs into the back of the Marantz 7002 receiver sort of eliminate the purpose of the protection to the amp?

It's always been my impression that most of the outlets on the back of a receiver are for accessory use and are rated for lower max currents--using that may actually restrict full current flow to the amp.

I'd use the DC Trigger. Worst case use a small wall wart plugged into the AVR to trigger the amp (assuming the amp has a trigger that is)

Amp has a trigger, just wanted to know which would give me the better result. Your info from the first reply was exactly the type of response I was looking for. Thanks!

Just looked up your AVR's manual:

The capacity of this AC outlet is 150W. Do not
connect devices that consume electricity more than
the capacity of these AC outlets. If the total power
consumption of the connected devices exceeds the
capacity, the protection circuit shuts down the power
supply.

And they don't appear to be grounded either.

Try the trigger out from the AVR first, but if it doesn't work, you might need to go the wall wart route (I had to).
