what can i do with this mute speaker???
hi guys,
am gonna try this out as it's so much new fun. have a polk speaker in black box (61/2x 101/2)--the speaker doesn't work. there is no sound at all. it's probably 10 years old but with very little use. the bigger speaker has a tear in the paper cone but there is no crackle , there is nothing. when we had this hooked up to our old receiver, there were times when we turned the denon 140 watt guy on and there would be a hug loud pop and then massive crackling( not good, eh). but anyway, i have a nakamichi receiver now and would love to fix this guy for my own personal satisfaction. i have an electrician friend who supposes it might be a "diode" (little tiny barrel shaped thing inside. if so , is this repairable , replaceable or is it time to get another speaker. also, how does one repair a rip in the paper speaker cone? having fun with this and would like to thank anyone in advance for their help on this.
