Cat fancying my receiver?

So for the past two weeks I have gotten up and noticed instead of my cat laying in bed with me, she is over laying on top of my receiver.

She pushed my digital photo frame back against the wall and lays there. Now I have not been home so I have not been running it so it is not warm for her to be attracted to it.

Anyone think of why she is doing this?

It might also be if the apt is hot, she finds the metal nice and cool.

My cats liked the sofa & chair most of the time, but in the summer they would like on the kitchen floor if they got too hot.

Or as Mike said if the receiver is up high, cats will go as high up as they can.

My Tami was a climber & I would sometimes find her at the top of the kitchen cabinets. She would go from the floor, to counter, to top of fridge, to cabinets!:D She would also sometimes go from floor, to the back of my tv, & then jump over to sit on top on one of my speakers.

She knew she wasn't supposed to do it, but it didn't stop her from doing so.

    I miss my cats.:(

Cats like to sit next to something warm, especially if they are NOT feeling well. Might be time for a trip to the vet.

Install a sensor on your receiver so it turns in automatically when the cat lies on it. You will be able to compete with Kentucky fried chicken with your new product; "New Jersey fried cat" :D That would however work best with ONKIO receiver :p

My son had a cat that decided to "mark" his Onkyo 604 and sprayed all over the top. The receiver would not turn on at all. Fortunately I was able to take the cover off and spray an entire aerosol can of circuit board cleaner on the various pc boards and it came back to life and has been working fine since.
    The cat is gone now...

More likely that the receiver would be damaged due to overheating before the cat would cook.

She's trying to fill the receiver with hair and dander.

Mine will lay on ANYTHING he can find. If i put a postcard in the middle of the floor, he'd lay on it rather than anywhere else in the apartment.

Mine liked laying on top of my amp (which is on a shelf under the shelf for the TV, so a small space), until she got too big and couldn't fit anymore (that was a funny day...)

My new kitten hasn't discovered that spot yet, but it's also not cold out yet.

My cat only lays there when the receiver is good and warm. No idea if she does when it's off as I wouldn't be in the basement. Maybe she just got used to sleeping there so it's his/her new bed.

When I was working at home mine would fall asleep on top of my monitor right on the front edge. Twice she fell off and landed on the keyboard, scaring both me and her. :D

Other times she would swish her tail back and forth, like a windshield wiper, over the screen. I swear she did this on purpose just to irritate me.

Yes I have, and yes I do have one now. Our cat knows what is out of bounds when I'm home, but I suspect that changes when I'm not home. :p
