I posted this in the "misc audio deals" thread. But figured it might get more notice quicker here. Somebody local should snag this. Wish I could.

I bounced it and made a few bucks to buy Mike's Rogue:).

This one will be refurbed to the highest level and maybe hang out for a bit.

It is arguably the finest cassette deck made for home use, made at a time when cassettes were used to record vinyl for playback in cars or as a medium in it's own right. The one I had was damn near as good as a cd in terms of sound quality and still had the warmth of vinyl.

I still have a cassette in my car, along with a trunk mounted CD changer. With this, I can transfer some vinyl to cassette and relive my quickly fading youth.;)

You can do that with any cheap cassette recorder. Any tape made on a Nak never sounds that great on another deck anyways. The Naks alignment and precision manufacturing made a Nak recorded tape sound dull on another brands deck in most instances. Especially car decks

I just don;t see the point of buying a deck like the Dragon and paying thru the nose to have it refurb'd just to make cassettes for the car. To have that deck refurb'd correctly it'll probably cost about $500.

It's mine. Got it tonight, 16 miles from where I am. Heads are dirty, otherwise in very good shape. Both capstans are turning, but the reels are not when Play button is pressed. Maybe just the idler wheel needs replacing. We'll see. Warren said somebody called from Indiana and offered $150 plus shipping. Oh well, too late.

I'm not sure it was his intent to brag about beating one of our guys to it, how do we know it was a Polk member that offered $150+shipping?

On the otherhand, if he only joined the forum to brag about snagging it...well, you get my point  That won't be looked upon too kindly here.

Well it was pretty evident from John's earlier posts that he either was attempting to buy it or had bought it and since he's from Boiler county Indiana I kinda put 2 and 2 together and concluded that he had bought it out from under John considering this statement
Warren said somebody called from Indiana and offered $150 plus shipping. Oh well, too late.
now of course the fellow might have been unwilling to ship in which case it wouldndt have mattered what John offered, it just seemed like bragging to me which leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Since this cassette deck is considered very nice high end during its time. I wonder how would a Akai GX-F95 deck? I owned many moons ago and I would agree made super sounding tapes which completed with CD's at the time. I loaned it too a friend it since I had some tower speaker stolen and couldn't afford new speakers at the time it was collecting dust. I lost it over the years, but allows wondered about that deck.

I don't think there were that may local Polkies that were really trying to get this tape deck. Its Craigslist folks. For local deals. Asking a seller to ship on Craigslist is inappropriate.

Kingcrab, I hope you joined the Polk Forum to be a part of our community, not just to brag.

I t was me that made the offer, and I hoped the extra fifty bucks would help sweeten the offer because of shipping and all. Kingcrab joined yesterday... just to brag as evidenced by his first and only post and the tone of it, but I could care less. There are others out there and when one pops up, I will try again. I should thank him for saving me 400 bucks in restoration costs, that is IF it can be restored at all. I wish him all the luck with it as if he is unfamiliar with the Dragon, it will bite him in the ****.
