A really nice guy came into the pawnshop where I work yesterday. He asks me if I have ever heard of a Rappaport A1 amplifier. I said no and then he fills me in on them a little. Are they as good as he says they are? Are they really worth like $10,000 now? Just curious because this guy acted like it was the best thing since sliced bread. Just curious.

When I was looking up info. on the amp at the shop yesterday, I found the page you mentioned. The guy told me it was his post. He is getting the amp worked on locally by someone who is really good with fixing audiophile grade equipment. On a side note, how ya' been? Been a few months since we spoke last. Hope all is well with you.

Got rid of the Maggies and picked up a pair of B&W CDM1 SE along with a Parasound HCA-1500a. I switch between this and the Classe amp depending on what type of music I am going to listen to. Also trying out a CAL cd player right now. Not bad but I think I want something a little more revealing. I cannot for the life of me remember the cd player you suggested. I think it was something Chinese if memory serves me well. Cool to work at a place where I can try out different audo equipment. You never know what is going to come through the door.

If I repaired it, it would never work again, lol. I can figure stuff out pretty quickly but have never taken the time to learn. As this hobby grows I am sure I will eventually delve into it. I was curious about the amp to know how it sounds and performs. The guy that came in to the shop was raving about it and thought that since so many of us have tried tons of different gear maybe someone here has had or listened to one over the years.

Andy Rappaport amp one, along with the Levinson ML-2 (when owned by the man, not the marketing machine)are both teriffic amps. The Rappaport sounds smoother and more dynamic to me. As an interesting side light, it was rumored that Rappaport was put out of business because of the law suits from people burning themselves on the outside of the amp. Now that's what I call class A.
