Does this model have HT bypass. I have been looking for a preamp to pair with my gfa555II, and this is definitely with in my price range. I will have to use it with my HT until I get seperate speakers for a dedicated 2 channel rig.

Now I've got to ask, the GFP is a step up from the GTP series right? They don't even compare sound-quality-wise?

I always wondered why out of the blue an item got bid up to a stupid price. I had that on my watch list hoping noone would see it. I need covert e-bay where once I watch an item I am the only one that sees it. LOL

Great unit, great buy. But does anyone 'really' believe that piece is CLEAN. That it's not going to need a lot of work for 250?

Anyone who sells a pre like that either does not know what they have or is simply selling a semi-functional unit. I've picked up some older pieces that haven't been what I expected, dust, distortion--off to the Stereo Doctor?

    Buyer beware!

What is really scary is when you see bids for items where the bid price goes higher than a the same or comparable unit new...

I love it when the buy it now price (and your only option) is higher than what I can simply google or go to Amazon for.

I am going to have to take the opposing view. Why would any piece that sells for $599 new be worth $250 used? Unless it was virtually unused and in the box. I do not know how old this pre is. I guess my expectation is that for $250 it should be in like new condition. If I received it and it needed to go to the stereo doctor there would be a Pay Pal claim filed. There is no shortage of used Adcom components for sale. 20 year old Adcom 555's for $400 no thank you.

I think there are very few used everyday production pieces produced in the last 40 years worth more than $250 used. I am talking mainstream stuff not esoteric stuff, yes it would be worth more. I paid $200 for an almost near perfect Yamaha RX-V1 with remote. You know what, as a piece of electronics it could go out tomorrow with no warranty. $200 was all I was willing to risk. I passesd on many auctions that went to $400.

The same thing with silver age Pionneer and marantz receivers. There is no shortage there either. People find them at estate sales every weekend. Then post them for 2,3,4 hundred dollars as rare and scarce.

Adcoms have gone up in value in recent years. GFP-555's go for $125-200 depending on condition. I paid $400 for a 555 in 1986 and sold it 5 years ago for $125. GFP-565's can range from $200-400 and sold for $800 in early 90's. I recently purchased near mint GFP-715 for around $325 and it was well worth it! I have seen these sell at nearly $375. Vintage Adcom has stood the test of time with the quality of their build. I have heard it called "high end" for the middle class.

Two channel thank you for the info. Of course I am only stating my own opinion, budget constraints and tolerance for risk. As stated "Buyer Beware". When it comes to E-bay I do my research and due deligence. If I knew the buyer and history I may pay more. I would have a problem paying $375 for an item that is $599 new. I would just buy it new. The rule I use is equipment more than 5-8 years old I am only willing to pay 10-20 % of retail.

Upon doing some more research I see that no other 715's have been listed in the last 90 days.
18 565's have sold at an average of $225 from 157.50 to 379.99
29 555's have sold at an average of $150 from 66 to 225 with one crazy 290 BIN.

I guess we will have to put the 715 in the esoteric category.

The 715 is well worth $$$ The 750?? Well we all know where it stands in the SS arena..

The 715 I sold was in like new mint condition and if not for the 750 I would still have it..

    I just paid $850 for another 5802..
