Reminds me of a line from "Top-Gun". To paraphrase...
The police department regrets to inform you that your son is dead because he was stupid.

    What a waste.

Im sure all of us have done something completely stupid at one time in our lives that when we look back on could have killed us and if we saw our kids doing them we would whip their ****..... I remember when I was about 12 or 13 jumping off of a 2 story garage into a 5 foot swimming pool:eek:, what the hell was I thinking?

Well, in your case, you're almost in West Virginia.

Too bad about the kid. I'm sure most of us have survived some form of stupidity in our lives.
Both my sons were home on leave from Iraq at the same time last year and WE tied on a good drunk. Actually got on the roof of my truck "surfing".
Luckily when my youngest son who was driving hit the curb and my oldest and I fell off the truck we weren't hurt badly.
I banged up my shoulder and "rashed out" and my oldest lost some skin on his back left side and hip.
IF WE hadn't been so trashed it probably would have killed up both. The debate on the speed still continues.
We played golf a couple of hours later until we sobered up. We were both pretty sore. We could have froze to death also as the temps were low in late december.
    Damages to the truck...$300. Memories...Priceless!
I'll agree with Darwin with a "luck" disclaimer.

I feel like hte stupid to age ratio was pretty high. 18 years old being pulled behind a Jeep on a skateboard? Definitely too old to be THAT stupid.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

You haven't watched ESPN lately have you?
GEEZ! some of the stuff considered sports is beyond belief. It is cool though. Glad to see some "fortitude and ingenuity" from our youth.

I think what got it all started (not ignoring the booze factor) was the fact we're all combat vets. To make it worse I was USMC and they're both USArmy.
IIRC that's what got it all started. Military pissing contest at it's worst. Add a more than adequate supply of alcohol and "F..it attitude, and a bit of inter service rivalry (not counting my age factor as I try to ignore the white thinning hair), and never let my boys see me as OLD. Blowing off some steam will over rule common sense.
Though I be originally from Tennessee I regard myself as an educated man with some common sense the majority of the time.
