finish out 5.1 system
Hi all,
First post, longtime lurker, same newbie question. I have a pair of monitor 7's(1990), with a cs 10 center and want to add either surrounds or get a different pair of fronts and move the 7's to back as surrounds. the receiver is a denon 591. Would like a floorspeaker ,I think. 500 dollar budget, any suggestions would be welcome. By the way a sub may or may not come later(wife factor). Tsi series or the monitors at newegg look nice.

The new second edition Monitor 70s are $250 each at newegg, and are a great speaker. You won't get any better value out of your budget unless you go used.HT: Panasonic TC-P42X1 | Yamaha RX-V665 | Infinity 2000.4, SM Video, RS2 | BIC F-12

J&R has the original Monitor 70s for $180 shipped, which I don't believe are acoustically different from the 'Series II' rebrand. Put saved money towards a decent sub or bribing the wife.Front/Rear - 4x Tsi500s

If you do decide to get the Monitor Series II from Newegg, I'd consider waiting a little bit for a special. The Monitor 70 Series II were only $200 each maybe two weeks ago?

There's a thread about it a few threads below this one. I think they took old stock, made fancy new cases for it, and resold them at a higher price.Front/Rear - 4x Tsi500s

Monitor 70's would be a little much as surrounds if the mains are Monitor 7's. Find a pair of Monitor 4's or 5's on craigslist for under $100 and be done for a cool vintage Monitor HT. Or look for a pair of SDA's, many of which can be had for less than $500, and move the Monitors to the back.Home TheaterRTiA5 - CSiA6 - FXiA6 - PSW650 - Pioneer Elite SC-55 - Carver AV-505 - Sony 46" 120Hz - Monster HP 2400 - Xbox 360 - Playstation 32 ChannelPolk RTA 15TL - Harman Kardon HK3485 - HK DVD48 - Signal Cable IC's and speaker cables

Hi folks, Thanks for the replies, Went to j&r music world as suggested and got the monitor 70's, with an extra 10.00 off (349.99) and free shipping. Will be moving the 7's to the rear surround position and use the 70's as frt. channel for ht use and music. I already knew I liked the sound of the tsi series pretty well and know I will get a sub in the future. Thanks again for the ideas, by the way the people on the forum(ya'll) all seem pretty nice and helpful. That is a switch from some forums I go to. thnx again, richard
