Hilbert's Summer Sellathon continues with an

Emotiva USP-1 preamp!

Purchased around 25th July 2009, used until around Christmas in moderately dusty environment. However I've dusted in carefully and I'm going to call it a 9/10 Audiogon (some white specks appear in the pics to be on top of the pre; they aren't there in reality. Maybe the lens is dirty. Maybe I scatter dandruff constantly and don't realize it).

HT bypass, phono inputs, analog bass management, 4 audio inputs, some sort of tape input-output loop.

Some caveats: volume adjustment is a bit crude---if 6 p.m. on the volume knob is 0, then I never turned it as far as 9 p.m. Also, there is a very bright blue halo light around the volume knob. I got used to it but I never really got to like it, and some guys on the Emo forum complain that they never got used to it.

Biggest caveat has to do with bass management and HT bypass. If you look at the pics of the back of the box, you'll see two sets of output jacks: one set full range LR, and one set bass-managed LR Sub. The bass crossover can be varied continuously from (approximately) 50 to 250 hz. Here's the catch: in HT bypass mode the full range output jacks are dead. So if you want to run your fronts full range when watching movies, this is probably not the preamp for you---there are workarounds but they're a nuisance. Emo guys gave as the reason something about maintaining simplest possible circuit for full range outs.

Reason for selling: bought myself a preposterous Christmas present last year, a W4S STP. It's extremely tempting to say that of course the reference quality USP-1 is fully the equal of the Wyred. But sadly this isn't really. However the Wyred cost 5 times what the Emo cost, and the Emo's value is I think considerably more than 1/5th that of the STP. For the money, if you can stand the blue light and the bypass oddity, it's a good deal.

Price: $350 shipped to 48. $330 local (inside Asheville, NC city limits) pickup.
MO, or buyer pays Paypal fees, or pays $360.83/$340.21.

Shipped in original double boxes, with detachable power cord, remote, and manual.
