I'm sitting at BWI waiting to fly out to Cheyenne, WY to see the old man. I'm getting his old El Camino but only if I drove it back with him. If I don't kill him before Maryland it should be a cool trip. I'm not sure of the actual route but we have to be in Nashville by the 3rd so I can see my brother off to cancer surgery.

I've been cross country before but if you have any suggestions as far as site seeing, feel free to post any suggestions.

Shack - I don't have your email or phone number handy, give me a shout if you'll be around....got some spare garage space? Lol

When we get moving I'll post some pictures along the route. Talk to you folks later and I'm hoping for a tornado along the way WOOT!
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Mark, you and the old man have a place to stay in Ohio if you plan to come through. Straight up I75 from Shack's. I think you have my contact, if not let me know.

You're not welcome here. If you do see Shack, please pistol whip him and grab his RT400's for me.

Mark, sounds like an awesome trip, especially in an El Camino. Prayers are being said on this end for your brother to come through and recover quickly.

Have a safe trip and take care of your pop!

I haven't been traveling around the country since the '80s/'90s so I can't help you with any siteseeing. Sorry! Hopefully Steve and Ric can give you a little rest stop and some fun.

1976, orig rally wheels, chrome looks great - good straight, correct car.

Awesome. Makes me want to cut the sleeves off a pearl snap shirt and find a Steppenwolf 8 track....

Sweet! Looks like it was kept well in Wyoming. Keep it out of the snow!

I've been spending alot of time with my dad (he is 76). Yesterday we listened to jazz for about 3 hours.

    Have fun.

I'm back, 2200 miles later. It wasn't so much a sight seeing event as a formal trip from A to B. I wish I could have hooked up with some of you along the route but we were on a mission.

I was able to hit some family stops on the way, get some peaches, play cribbage until 2am, drink until 4am, sign-in and shake at every Eagles/American Legion/VFW between Wyoming and Maryland, see the giant Superman in Metropolis, never break down, see my brother and a whole host of other cool memories. The kicker is that I didn't kill my father since we don't travel well together....it wasn't too bad.

Trip over, and I'm happy to be home with my wife and the children....being a dog and cat. WTH I'm gonna do with this ElCamino is another project but at least it's here.

    Thanks folks :D

I can't believe you passed up free lodging.

The wife wanted to see this Doro person she had heard about. She wasn't sure such a person even exitsted (based on my description). She was even willing to kick the dog off the guest bed to make room for you.

    Oh well, maybe next time.

Steve, sorry man. I wanted to but we had a timetable that didn't allow much lag time. I appreciate the offer and wish we could get even with you since you destroyed my home in a drunken rage when you stayed with me a couple years ago. The insurance company finally paid so all is well.

We had three stops in that mileage....Columbia, MO....Nashville, TN....Kingwood, WV.

    cool car.
