Vinyl Score!

I spent 5 hours today looking through at least 10,000 pieces of vinyl! Holy crap! The guy opened the door to this room and there was vinyl everywhere. Box upon box upon box upon box. I knew the guy had some stuff he was needing to get rid of (aggravated wife), but I never imagined he had that much.
There was virtually anything you could think of. Where does a person even start when confronted with that much?? How do you even look at it all. Even in 5 hrs, I was just skimming through boxes. If I saw a couple things I was interested in, I would slow down and look closer. But, holy crap! I was overwhelmed!
There was a lot of EPs as well as at least 5000 45's. I can kick myself now for not trying to snag them, but he had a box with well over 150 Elvis 45's with picture sleeves. The records were even pristine.
I ended up coming home with around 300 lps. A half dozen Zeppelin, Doors, Creedence, Carpenters, Ozzy, Van Halen, Iggy Pop, and on and on. Even a Harvest label Floyd. The most of any one thing I brought home was Elvis. I am not necessarily an Elvis fan, but I bought 50+ with over a half dozen still sealed including 2 Moody Blue (blue translucent) and 2 gold colored translucent Canadian tributes. There is I think 3 picture discs as well. Every single Elvis is absolutely pristine in every way.
I spent a total of $275, which I think was pretty good considering the Elvis stuff alone would probably bring that or more. I was also told that I was welcome back at any time. He even threw in some free stuff. Several things I picked out he had duplicates of but from different pressing or with slightly different covers. He would just throw them on the stack and say "This one has different cover, just take it".
I felt like a fat kid in a candy store!

Space! Not just a new frontier but an old problem as well! Congrats on a great score but also on having the space to bring it home to.
I'm at that terrible point of having to "attic" something old each time I bring home something new. I've already built shelving in the guest room closet to hold my vinyl, special books and other stuff to the point that it's useless for visitors. My wife has her own stuff looking for space and deals are made all the time.
When our kids see this accumulation they repeat their mantra about iPods, hard drive storage, the overuse of plastics and paper ... then just roll their eyes (again) when we tell them our stuff has collectable status and their iPods don't even list band members ... sheesh!
Congrats again on the great find! Hope you have the space to get back there a time or two.

While I admire your kid's green spirit, remind them that their ipods are made in China by people living in dorms and working ungodly shifts for very little pay.Turntable: Empire 208

That's the kind of guy I'd offer to buy the lot. You're buying at less than $1 a peice already......
Awesome, good find!Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -

An informed individual would've started with the Zappa, Beefheart, Hendrix, and James Brown. -

I was hoping to buy the entire lot when I went there. I had 2k in my pocket. Something like this was a first for me. Other than in a store, I have never seen that much vinyl in one spot. 2k wouldn't do it though. Looks like I am going to have to make another trip and try again.George Grand wrote: »An informed individual would've started with the Zappa, Beefheart, Hendrix, and James Brown.
His son took a box full of stuff and we could only find one Jimi...Are you Experienced. There may have been some James Brown but it is not like he was on my "must have list". I guess I should do some research before I buy anything else.
