Hello im a proud to say that i am a member of CP. A really good friend of mine turned me on to polk speakers. I have finally pieced together a nice sounding home theater on a budget. I have an onkyo tx sr-603x receiver, a pair of rta 11t for fronts, a cs2 for my center, a pair of r20's for my surrounds, and a psw 10 for a sub. I have pieced it all together for just under 400 bucks( not including wire and speaker stands) and all the equipment is in really superb condition. I am now a polk addict and dont think i will ever buy another brand of speaker. I just wanted to see what my next upgrade should be. i was thinking abouting getting a newer receiver with hdmi inputs and inputs for an amp. I also have a 52 sharp aquos 120 hz, monster hts-1600, ps3, and a wii. Any suggestions would be great.

    Welcome to CP djperez81 :)

Yet a nice start up set-up at a friendly price

Yes, upgrading your receiver could be a good step. Do you intend to stick with Onkio? If so, of course you could maybe aim for some with pre-outs along with the HDMI Inputs. This would allow you to future proof your system for when adding external amp. Maybe check for the latest HDMI revision which would also future proof your new system.

    Cheers!

Diego, welcome to Club Polk. Although the fine Polk speakers which you have don't have any unusual power requirements and your 603 should be okay from that standpoint, a new receiver with more up-to-date features would be a good idea. One of the great things about today's audio scene is the excellent quality full-featured receivers which are available to us at moderate cost, especially if we buy a factory refurbished unit. Bought from a reputable source, these should be at least as reliable as a brand new unit. Consider, for example, the Onkyo 180 with Audyssey MultEQ auto-calibration and networking provisions, available here for about $430 plus shipping.

In the future you might also consider getting a more powerful sub than the PSW10.

One of the guys in the groups has a signature stating, "Everything Matters" :) and it is absolutely true.

What are your main interests concerning your system? Whatever part you vote for can be improved, and there will be dozens here with opinions about how to go about it.

Also, consider how much you want to spend. There are tweaks you can perform that don't cost a lot, but by the end of a year you will probably have spent 10 times more money than you can possibly conceive of spending today.

wow i didnt expect replies so soon, but thanks. My next upgrade i was planning is a better receiver, and i do want to stick with onkyo. i know my sub isnt the best but i really didnt pay anything for it. Someone one CL was selling it along with a yamaha htr-5750 and 2 cerwin vega d-2 for 100 bucks so i grabbed it and sold the receiver for 150 so i actually made 50 bucks.

That was actually a good deal (making money out of buying  ). Actually, the PSW10 has better reports than some more expensive of the PSW line. Yet, this is a good sub for starter and from what I heard it fullfills Polk,s promise and even more. BTW, what is the size of your room?

my living room is about 18x12. i usually do research stuff before i buy them so i know what im getting. the sub does sound good and clean but i know there is way better out there but i couldnt pass up the deal. Im looking to upgrade my receiver first then i will move on to the sub. as far as the rta 11t's im keeping those babies.

What's your price range? Two of the cheapest receivers with pre-outs right now I think are the Yamaha RX-V665 ($250-300) and Onkyo 707/708 ($400-650).

I agree with Keiko on using searches effectively too! Sites like this, AVSForum, HTForum, etc. probably have people asking the exact same questions you have!
    Front/Rear - 4x Tsi500s
    Center - CS20
    Sub - Hsu VTF-3 MK3
    Receiver - Onkyo TX-SR707
    TV - LG 47LH90
Main AV Device - Playstation 3

Add another vote for the Yamaha RX-V665. Most people that have bought it only report satisfaction (I paid much more for my HTR-6080 which is outstanding). Many people also acquired the Onkio 7000 and are also satisfied. However, some auditioning is yor best ally as receiver brands are very subjective and will usually refrain from comments because of that.

+1 on getting a receiver with pre outs.

You also said you wanted to stick with the Big-O. If you don't mind refurbished, I'd definitely check out accessories4less (Onkyo 807). Newegg is also a great place to find some good prices on new products.

I'd probably take a look at the Onkyo 707 and 807. Both look pretty solid.

Welcome aboard DJ!! I would have to recommend that you go with a newer AVR for your next upgrade. It is the centerpiece of your HT and let's face it, you are more likely to upgrade your speakers in the future if you have an AVR that can do it all. I couldn't agree more with making sure it at a very minimum has pre-outs for adding an external amp in the future. If you plan on viewing HD content, then HDMI is also a must have, IMHO. As for the whole 3D thing, that is still open for debate, but if you are looking to future proof your rig, it won't hurt to get one that supports that as well. If your TV supports 3D content, then I say go for it, if it doesn't, then it isn't a must have for your AVR, IMHO. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
