Step up from Tyler Linbrook Monitors??

I've had my Tyler Linbrooks for about 3 years and am thinking about trying something different. I know there are some former Tyler owners here who have moved on. What have you tried and what speaker did you find that in your opinion was a step up compared to the Tyler's?

The only speaker I would ever consider going from The Linbrook Signature series to would be Wilson Audio Watt Puppies.

Mark, he's apparently got the Linbrook monitors. They have two mids and one tweeter. I have the big boys, the Linbrook Signature series. They have one tweeter, two mids and two woofers. Between the two is a world of difference.

Hundreds of options out there. But if you like the sound you could get a pair of the Signature system. Very nice top to bottom speaker.

Thanks for the input guys, I may have to think about the larger Tyler Signature. I want to see what the new LSi series has to offer but I am kind of thinking it won't be in the same class as the Tyler Signature.

    Super Towers or go home.

Just saying, hard to beat the midrange on those puppies. :)

One thing to note is the Signature series is basically the Monitors - but sealed, so you will get slightly cleaner mids than the monitor - and the rest of the enclosure is dedicated to the lows.

The Super Towers will give you what you hear now, but with a taller, wider presentation and about 20hz lower.

I wish the signature and super tower were a little lighter. At 130 lbs each those would be difficult to lug around. Which is one reason I like the monitors - maybe I already have the perfect speakers for me :D

My experience with Tyler has been similar,,having owned the Taylos Monitor and the Linbrook Monitors,I kept the Taylos (I thought that they imaged and threw out a different soundstage more to my liking),so I sold the Linbrooks and moved up to the 7U's,,I much preferred the scanspeak revelator(tweeter) vs the seas. The 7's exhibit a large soundstage, pinpoint imaging, but have a better base response than the monitor series. As far as overall soundstage/imaging goes,,I have to give it to the monitors.I have since replaced the Taylos with a pair of custom monitors that dig a little deeper.I am still thinking that the monitors with a sub might just be the better combination.Maybe I'll try that since I still have the Tyler monitors.

Hmmmm,, thats a lotta' gab,,,If you like the sound--move on up the Tyler line,,good luck.BTW- let us know what happens.

Do you move your speakers around on a regular basis?

I like the Seas and the Scan speak tweeter - but I do like the Revelator a little better, I even asked for it in my super towers but Ty said he couldnt do it due to the crossover.

    But I still like it...

Me too--the revelator tweeter is a little smoother to my old ears,,I just could not adjust entirely to the seas tweeter,, but the mid-bass with the copper plugs,, thats another story;)

Ever since I hit "the" spot for optimum sound, the big Linbrook's haven't moved one bit. There's no need whatsoever. If I do have to, it's relatively easy. I just "walk" them on the spikes with no issues.

    Hmmmmmm

Tom you should ask Ty to send you a set of his new speakers.

You wanna talk about accurate midrange and highs?

Those D2's - other than some bass issues I was having to this day are some of the cleanest, smoothest highs and mids I have ever heard.

Danni Ritchie did some magic on that design.

You haven't heard my system since I changed some things out. Also, the tubes when you heard them were WAY out of normal bias range......in other words, they were at 2.2 to 2.4 volts when they should have been set at 4-5 volts. I have them set at 4.7 volts right now and compared to the day you heard them, they sound like a completely different speaker. In fact, it sounds like a completely different rig altogether with the new tubes as well.

No fighting whatsoever between top and bottom with a sound stage that produces some of that ever elusive "magic". You listen to it now and you realize why the sub is back in your possession.

That sub is rockin on some movies hehe -- Not tied into the 2 ch system at all

The old Tyler stuff is excellent - obviously I think so as I have a pair now and have had the 7u, etc

I am sure your rig is rockin Tom

I am just saying - Ty's new stuff with the Danni Ritchie touch is pretty friggin awesome. Ive never heard mids like that on any of the older stuff from Ty. I am a midrange ****.
