That take Whey protein?

I'm having the hardest time trying to find whey that I can mix that doesn't clump like no other. Lately I've been getting some stuff at GNC and honestly I can't tell the difference between that and some crap at Wally World I had once. Both taste and how it mixes...

Any recommendations for something that doesn't taste like butt and that possibly doesn't clump so bad that I have to chew my "shake"?

and I drink this stuff a lot, up to 3-4 times a day (I consume on average at this point 225-275 grams).

First, what liquid do you use? milk?

I use (well not much anymore) Whey protein from GNC, and you pretty much have to constantly stir for a good minute and get most of the clumps to dissappear. If it bothers you that much, get a blender. But I'm pretty sure that the better protein powder you get doesn't mean it will be less "clumpy"

Edit: I get the vanilla creme and drink it with milk and it tastes like a cheap milk shake but at least I can put it down, the strawberry was god awful

When I was lifting I used Muscle Fortress Whey from Walmart. Its really cheap and the vanilla tastes great. I found mixing it with a spoon and using a fork to break up the clumps worked pretty good. Those shakers don't work very well at all. Cleaning a blender every time would be a real hassle.

I bought a new Hamilton Beach Dual Wave blender to replace an ancient Oster I had lying around. When I blended my whey drinks with the old blender it was really fluffly and disgusting. My hamilton blender makes the texture much more bearable and gets rid of all the "chunks". I never had any luck mixing with a spoon because half the protein was still stuck to the sides and bottom of the cup.

I use skim milk instead of water. Just personal preference.

I use water and powder and mix it with a small whisk, this breaks up many if the clumps. FWIW we drink chocolat flavor powder. Can't remember the brand name.

BSN Syntha-6 is a great protein that blends well with whatever, but it does cost more. Using a mixing shaker with either the grid or wire ball in it can help with the chunks if you don't want to use a blender.

I also found out if you pour in half the liquid, then the powder, then the other half of the liquid, it works better.

I totally forgot about that thing Zingo! Thanks for that reminder.

I don't really want to use a blender because when you are doing it 3-4 times in a day it gets annoying to clean it out each time blah blah blah. Also I am a lot of times pressed for time, as in I'm mixing these when I'm at work during my lunch ect so a blender is not always an option.

Right now I'm using a chocolate flavor, which I'm getting sick of quick as that was the one I've used forever.... (like 3-4 years and never changed).

and I mix normally with Skim milk, helps get more protein into the mix. If I have a blender around I'll also add in egg whites, skim milk, and then the powder.

The other trick I figured out that is similar to Cody's advice, is that I would add just enough liquid to be able to blend the powder with a fork, then add the rest of the liquid and it would mix well.

Get one of those hand held blenders. I use EAS Whey Protein. I get it from Food Lion for like $10 a jug. I pour a scoop of it into a cup then pour 2 cups of milk on top of it. Toss in the blender and let it mix for about 30 seconds. Bammo, youve got a nice tall glass of chocolate milk with 42 grams of proteing, 50 grams of carbs and no fat.

This method has worked for me for nearly 20 years. No clumps, no muss. Its worked with GNC's Pro Performance brand of whey protein as well as all the others Ive used over the years.

Do you live in the gym? Cripes, serious business you are up to.
Regardless, I have found that a company by the name of 'Syntrax' makes Whey Protein Isolates that come in flavors besides Chocolate, Vanilla, etc and taste pretty damn good.
I have tried the Lemonade and Kiwi Strawberry and they make it so you aren't fighting the gag reflex to get them down. Actually taste like something you would want to drink more then once.
    They mix well to boot.
I get them from Drugstore and GNC.

My son used to be real big on Met-R-X. It comes in big tubs, and is not cheap, but mixes pretty well. In fact we've still got one laying around of the cookies n cream flavor, which isn't bad.

He managed some GNC stores and even had his own store for a while, so he'd done the homework.

Lol no I don't live in the gym. I'm taking a lot in order to try and keep my mass but loose the fat. By keeping up a high protein intake for me and my body I often can maintain the mass that I've built up and typically lower my body fat % decently. I normally will work out for about 2 hours 3-4 days a week. Normally 1 hour of cardo and the rest lifting. I normally go with the rule that I take what my lien muscle mass is then double that to get my intake I need for protien, give or take. Its not easy and often I'm eating just chicken, egg whites, and whey powder

never tried it like that, but I will give it a shot. Hot cocoa doesn't sound too bad right now.

You beat me to it. I was going to say the same exact thing.

I also used a blender but made enough for two servings and just put them in the fridge at home or work.

I also never just pressed go on the blender and walked away. I used the pulse technique, I 1st added half the liquid then the powder then pulsed a couple of times then add the rest of the liquid and pulsed a few more times. Pulsing kept if from getting frothy.

This stuff mixes in a heartbeat, but isn't cheap.

    http://www.trueprotein.com/Product_Details.aspx?cid=22&pid=65

I used to buy allthewhey.com bulk isolate all the time, but they haven't had any product every time I checked lately so I ordered from TP. ATW is cheaper, but not as easy to mix. Pepsico made their "gatorade recovery" and put a crunch on the whey market.

Easy question to answer. 'ON' protein powder has a great taste. Another thing is, it doesnt give stomach bloat that some protein powders are famous for. I dont add anything to my shake that is going to make it taste like **** (for example, fish oil, creatine, glutamine, etc. I want my shakes to taste great!! We already eat enough "blah" foods to stay fit so why screw up the shake, lol). As for mixing, here is how I make my shake(s) in my blender:

-first I add ice and liquid (sometimes water, sometimes milk)
-add anything else you put in as well like peanut butter,banana,etc.....nothing that tastes like stale ****)
-I add all this at one time cause if you just add water/milk in the blender and turn it on it will go everywhere.
-Then as it is mixing up I take my 2 scoops of protein power and slowly add the powder by tapping the scoop on the side till it is all added. Only takes about 10 seconds to do it this way. No globs of dry powder in your mouth!!

The best one I've tried is the one from Allmax Nutrition. It's whey protein www.allmaxnutrition.com
As long as you put the water into the cup before the powder, you will not get chunks. Amazing taste too.
I stopped because it's too expensive. Now I have very small meals between meals and I honestly feel that this works better than when I used to have my shake between meals.
But it's so hard to tell when body building because everybody gets different results.
