Crossover Mod for Shelf System Speakers?

Hey guys,
I'm looking to ditch an amp from a shelf system I got a few years ago and hook the speakers to an Onkyo receiver I recently acquired. The only catch is that they're 3-way speakers that each have two pairs of wires going to the amp, and the crossovers seem to be in the amplifier unit rather than in the speakers. In order to use the speakers with my Onkyo and consolidate my equipment, I imagine I'd have to buy or make crossovers for the speakers.
Is this a good idea? Could I do it relatively inexpensively and with relative ease?

Well not really bi-amped in the traditional sense, but they each have two pairs of wires going to the ampMy Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers

What speakers are they?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

You could build external crossovers for each speaker that would work with the Onkyo receiver, but it would cost you more time and money than if you just bought a decent pair of speakers.

Thanks for the tip!
One other thing just occurred to me... would it be feasible to rip the crossovers out of the Panasonic or would they be too integrated into the unit? Please excuse me I really know nothing about electronics hahaMy Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers -
It's probably built into the electronics, so not worth it. Where do you live?

Toss em the garbage.....
You'd be better off spending $20 at the local thrift for something grunt and vintage.

You'd be better off to grab these http://hartford.craigslist.org/ele/1835211884.html of whatever else is on your local craigslist than put money into the old speakers.
