Would a Harman Kardon 3490 be a good way to get into 2 channel on a budget?
I have Monitor 70's and a Psw 505. Nothing special.
Thanks for your help, I have'nt been able to find much on here about
stereo receivers.

I would say yes. The HK3490 is a very underrated stereo. When I had the TSi500 (a very similar speaker to the 70) demo, I used a HK3490 to dive them as a test for a couple weeks. It sounded great at lower levels, but not so great at high volumes. Still, for a budget stereo, it does the job well.
