Where and what type of stylus to purchase

I thought I would try out a JVC QL-F4 turntable that was listed on Craigslist for $60. Well, I bought it and found that the stylus was shot. It's says Shure 8x and it fits an R1000XT cartridge, I don't know the brand - maybe the cartridge is Shure also?
My question is.......am I better off simply purchasing a new cartridge and stylus, or take a chance that the cartridge is ok and just purchase a stylus?
Second question, is there a popular web store for these items?
Any recommendations for stylus or cartridge for this quality of player?

If budget is a primary concern, I agree with the www.needledoctor.com recommendation as he is a supplier of decent quality items for absolute minimum prices. I also once purchased the wrong stylus from him and absolutely destroyed it when I tried to install it, and he still issued me a full refund!
