The OTHER things

Hi all..

After my recent preamplifier upgrade, I feel very very good about my 2 channel setup. I think I'm set for a long time on Speakers, Amp, Preamp. Now, there are lots of other things that people upgrade. I'd like to hear something about a few.

First, power chord? I just bought one from a forum member because my preamp did not come with one - so basically I needed to buy it. Does upgrading a power chord provide better sound, and if so, how? What is someone upgrading with this purchaes?

Next, cables. I know everyone here is crazy about them. I have monster interconnects for most of my stuff. I know they are usually expensive cables, but price doesn't equal quality always. Suggestions on brands to look for? Do cables effect synergy of a system? Do certain cables affect tube and SS differently?

Tubes - I know this may make people mad, but I'm not that interested in tube rolling - I'm lazy. I want to find a set of tubes for my equipment that sounds good for most types of music. I don't want to flip back and forth for different things - again - lazy. I know people can go on about tubes forever - but - question is, what makes more of a difference - changing tubes in an amp or preamp?

Thanks,

James

A quality PC helps any equipment and what you have aquired should cover you for now. Interconnects also play a roll in the synergy of the system, but I recommend you become very familiar with the new system as it sounds now before you start making changes. Many of the changes at this point lead to subtle improvements.

Tube rolling is to find the tubes you want to "leave alone" in your system. Once I found the ones that worked best for me I do not change them. Again these pursuits should follow after you are very in tune with the sound of your system. Many of the changes are significant but not "in your face".

Each step after obtaining the main components is incrimental, but ultimately rewarding.
    Enjoy the music!
