PSW125 vs. Infinity PS210

Hi All:
I am purchasing a Polk CS20 central channel and RC85is in walls as my front speakers and an Onkyo 608 for my finished basement with a 55 inch Samsung LCd and a Samsung bluray player.
I am also looking to purchase a powered sub and I am on a budget. I was going with a Polk PSW125 or 110 but the online dealer recommended the Infinity PS210 as an alternative because it is on sale. They stated that the sub does not have to match the other speakers and that the Infinity is a great deal at $299 and I would be getting more bang for my buck. It had sold for $399.99.
I am new to the home theater thing. What are your thoughts on the Infinity?
Thanks.

Whats your budget and how big is your basement?
Depending how much you're looking to spend, I'd say check out Polk's newer DSW series subwoofers or better yet take a look at SVS and Epik for your HT needs

$250 to $400 but trying to keep costs down as I have spent a considerable amount over my original budget.

$400 would get you a Mirage Prestige Omni S10, and would blow either of those subs out of the water.
That's just an example, there's plenty of other GREAT options in the $400 range.
Maybe a used Klipsch RW-12D?I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Thank you. However, I am trying to spend less. I have gone way over my original budget already. I am looking to spend closer to the $300 range.

That will still get you an RW-10D, which will annihilate either of your original choices without breaking a sweat. I think i sold mine for like... $225?
That's if you're open to used gear, i didn't think about that.
If you're looking to spend $300 or less on the new market, just grab a PSW505 and forget about it.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I would also look at Polk eBay - great refurbed deals. Just click above at "Where To Buy" then "Official eBay Store". You can search Home Speakers - Subwoofers. They currently have a PSW505 bidding at $149 or BIN at $249. Or the MicroPro2000 bidding around $250. Both would be very good starter subs within your budget. Take a look at the Elemental Design A3S-250 for $350 shipped.
Or:
The BIC Acoustech H100 for around $279 shipped
Or:
The Parts Express 15" kit (very minor assembly required and would be the one I would roll with personally if it were my money) $319
Good luck in your sub hunt. -

About 10-12 years ago when I was making good money I spent $1000 on a Velodyne 12 inch sub. I few years later when I lost my job I sold it. Earlier this year I bought a new PSW505 shipped to my door for $253. I honestly feel it is ever bit as good as my $1000 Velodyne.
The last two refurbished 505's on e-bay have sold for $197 plus shipping. The DSW micropro 2000's have been ending at about $330.
I won a 303 yesterday for $81. I plan to use it my my bedroom with RT5's. I am sure I will not be disappointed for under $100. beats the $330 for a 2000.System:
