Why?

Ummm.....well....what are the other reasonably likely explanations for a sealed pair being sold way below market value?
Some audiophiles will dump products way below market just to be done with it, but they open them up first for a listen. These are sealed.
And I find the pic suspicious as well. Nothing in the pic that is personal, just a concrete floor.2 Channel

Most likely they already sold and the seller deleted the listing. At that price I'm sure he had multiple offers in the first couple hours.
They were Harbeth speakers new in a factory sealed carton for about half retail. Even used they sell for $400 to $600 more...2 Channel

Just because something seems too good to be true doesn't mean its not, or hot.
I wonder if there is a place to look up S/N's to see if something is hot?Vinyl, the final frontier...

hmm I would also wonder what the dealer cost would be on these. It could be possible he got them for dealer cost then was selling them then at cost or a little above.
It wouldn't be the first time I have seen or heard of that happening. There is a guy that I was going to buy a PJ screen from and he stated he had a dealer agreement but would normally sell stuff for only 100-200 bucks above his dealer cost so he could get a lot of business. -

Our County Police Department has lists availible for public viewing in a computer at the station, it looks kind of like microfiche. I would imagine most PDs offer this service especially if there is an insurance claim involved or maybe with just proof of an insurance claim. I'm not sure if you could walk right in and ask to see a global list of S/Ns.
I know this because when I logged and took pictures of my gear models & S/Ns for my insurance agent they had me go to the County PD and give them a copy at which time they had me come back to verify it on the computer. -
