Fiona Apple...any news?

Probably my favorite female artist (along with Tori Amos). Whereas Amos has been churning out a steady stream of material since the early 90s, Apple's only got three major releases -- her debut appeared in 1996, but her last effort was released in fall 2005 (though most of it completed in 2003). That said, all three of Apple's records are extraordinary in my opinion.

Any fans here? If so, any news on current/future projects?

As a purely inconsequential aside, I find Ms. Apple to be quite easy on the eyes...

I'm a huge fan as well.. I was wondering the same thing a couple of weeks ago.. I was too lazy to do any investigative work to see what she's up to musically however..

Good to know I'm not the only Polkie whose a Fiona fan.

I haven't heard much about her since she did that tour with Nickel Creek where they did bluegrass-instrument versions of her songs... which was pretty awesome. I'm interested to see what she does next.

She's been a bad, bad girl!

    It's been sad, sad, sad!!!

I guess she invested her money well and doesn't need to make albums every year.

Sal, do you have her album When The Pawn...?

If so, you should make a point of listening to the last minute and half or so of percussion on track #3 ("Limp") on your SDA 1.2tls. The whole album is a triumph in recording/production and the percussion bit on that tune in particular just blows me away, even on Lsi9s. But it would just sound all the more incredible on SDAs, I think.

Were you able to catch her on this tour? I only read about it (in retrospect). Sounds great, as I know she has wide range of musical influences and areas of skill/competence.

Sadly, no. Not many acts come close enough to my town, though I did see Nickel Creek both times they were here (one time while sporting an ear infection so bad that half my face was swollen). But the pairing of Fiona Apple and Nickel Creek made for some awesome Youtube videos!

In fact, Chris Thile of Nickel Creek has a new band, Punch Brothers, and the DVD that comes with the collector's edition of their latest release has them doing Apple's On The Bound. Fantastic version.

I'm a big fan of her too. Wanna hear something terrible? When she came through my area on the Nickel Creek Tour I asked everyone and their mom to go to the concert with me, but no one wanted to. :( I just couldn't bring myself to go alone. *sighhhh* I hope she releases another album. I've heard (and no I don't know the reliability of this. Also, I'm too lazy to do any online investigating) she has, and may continue to, struggle with drugs. Did anyone ever watch her hilariously awesome video, "Not About Love" with Zach Galifinakis?
