Hey, anyone used the new LSi line? How do they match up against my RT55i's?

The RTi's cost 1/2 that of the LSi.

They dont "match" they are better and worth it if you are $$$

question is .... would RTi 55 "Timbre Match" with a LSi center?

    I'll take a stab here.

I have 55s in my living room. They are big, and they produce loads of volume. They sound incredible. But they could be said to lack intricate detail. They're just too big for it, I think. The RT35's are detailed and much more intricate. They have volume, too, but the 55s just kick loud ****!

So I took home a set of LSi9's. Immediately, I noticed that they sound completely different from the 55s: incredibly detailed, light and airey, almost completely transparent -- I heard things in the music (doing A-B comparisions) that I had never heard before (the sound of the room, ambience of the hall, the detail of individual instruments, etc.) and felt as if the orchestra (I was listening to some baroque music, Bach or something) were in my living room. It had presence without having weight. I didn't push them up really loud so I'm not sure what they'd do, but the experience was most like the RT35i's: smaller, more intimate, more detailed. It was very difficult to bring the LSi9's back into the office and go back to the 55s, altho once I did I didn't mind them at all. (I really like them.)

Will they be timbre-matched with RTi's? The party line is that it's a good idea to match the BRAND of all your speakers to ensure some matching. And LSi's would probably be fine as your complete front stage with RTi surrounds. But I wouldn't put an LSiC into a system of two main RTi's. The difference really is in the tweeter. The awesome ring radiator tweeter in the LSi just produces a different kind of sound than the dome tweeters in the RTi's. I'd try to match tweeters in my attempt to match a system.

Needless to say, the LSi's will definitely be something you'll need to hear. Can't wait to get them out! (Watch for the feature story in the upcoming newspaper, which mails out next week.)
