Wire gauge used in SDAs

Could someone please tell me what gauge wire is used in the SDA2Bs.? I need to get some and would like to know what to order.--Cardas 15.5 ???

It will be printed or embossed on the wire insulation, about every foot or so. Not always easy to see.
For 2.3TLs it's 16 gauge, so I imagine they used that in bulk.

Yep, 16 gauge.

Warning, the Cardas chassis wire, while great stuff, is extremely difficult to solder unless you have a solder pot.

It can be done with a hot iron if you're willing to strip the ends and use a dremel to polish off the coating off the individual strands. Regardless, PITA.

IIRC, Cardas is not recommended for internal wiring as the stuff's too tough to solder and isn't flexible.

It works fine for internal wiring as long as you can deal with terminating it. As far as flexibility goes, it's a little less pliable than lamp cord and much easier to work with than solid core.

I think I have a solution

I like there power cord wire and plugs.I should like this.I still need to solve the molex connector problem guys.Does polk have any of those 3wire plugs for the binding post to xover????

Is there really a sonic difference in changing the internal wires?? It seems that some say yes some say no.. But my guess is it really depends on what you are running your speakers with.. if your amp,pre and source are just on the lower end you may not hear any difference. This might be true for most tweeks. But what the hell do I know? I'm still a noob when it comes to some things....LOL

Depending on the wire used, etc... But I can't see why it couldn't make a difference on SDA"s due to the length of wire used.

And if you're using quick disconnects on the drivers, why not solder the cables directly to the board?

I hope to find out soon if my gear is good enough to hear a difference.It better be a damn good increase in SQ,...Have you seen how much the furutech alpha wire goes for.? Not sure if a 100+ is overpaying for this type of tweak.

I have no problem with the drivers cables to the boards and in fact one xover came with the mids wires soldered to the board.
Its the Binding posts direct to the board I dont want to have to do yet.

Yeah, I can see that being a PITA if you need to remove the crossover. There are other ways around it though, quick disconnects, etc...

I was thinking of using male and female disconnects.Id like to find some good copper ones though
