Hearing Aids

As I approach my golden years I have noticed some hearing loss. While I never had "golden ears" I did have full range hearing x2. But not so any longer:( I'm fairly confident that at some point I will need to think about this. Not wanting to rely on marketing info I'm looking for some first hand knowledge about what's out there. Are there hearing aids that can be tuned to freq. that need it the most, or is it an all or nothing proposition?

I know there are some hearing aids made for hunting that you can adjust the freq for plus they will cut out at 105ish so you can protect the hearing you have left. I thought there was some talk a little while back about hearing aids but I cant remember the name of the compony.
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

my hearing has always sucked since suffering chronic repeated massively painful eardrum tearing ear infections as a 5 yr old.

I used a tone generator that i downloaded from my computer and i according to it I hear nothing above 10 or 11 Khz.

Now thats some pretty steep roll-off

Thanks for the input. I guess I just need to endure with what I have and hope for some improved technology. Too bad it doesn't look like it happens in this area as fast as it does with other audio gear.:(

I have selective hearing. I am working on getting better at it, says my wife.

I have some hearing loss myself, but still pass the tests.
Get opinions of at least 2 doctors, but the best ones will cost you.
Take a look at your deductibles, and if you paid them all, go get it, if not, wait until January, and maybe an FSA can assist.
I don't know what is available, but try and get one that will still be usable if your hearing should further digress.
    Good luck.
