After about a month or so of buying pieces, its all finally coming together. I just ordered the receiver and center today, but now I need to get the last piece to my first home theater set up. I would like to thank you guys so much in for the advise you given me, I feel much better spending all that cash knowing I'm getting good products. My set up is
Reciever: Onkyo TX-NR808
Fronts: Polk Audio Monitor 70's
Rears: Polk Audio Monitor 60's
Sub: Polk Audio PSW Series PSW505
Center: Polk Audio CS2 Series II (sold out of the cs2 =(
I don't have any of the cables yet. The fronts, center, and sub will probably have wires less that 10 ft not ran through the dry wall. For the rears I will most likely need at least 85 feet each which I haven't decided if I want to run the rear wiring through the wall or not. I also need a sub cable which I'm not sure what I need for that. Where do you guys buy your speaker wire from, and what gauge do you recommend? As for a budget I want to do it right the first time but I don't want to go overkill. Thank you again for your help and time.

85 feet each for the rears?!?!? What kind of room is this stuff going into? O.o
As for gauge of speaker wire.... 12-14awg would be fine for fronts. For 85 foot runs for the rears, i'd say 10-12? I'm not sure man, i've never run anything longer than 20ft.
As for sub cable, or ICs in general, i like Audioquest. One of their entry level sub cables should do you well.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

If you wanna stay in budget, a good 12ga. wire from monoprice or bluejeans would be a great start. Or if you want to go higher up the chain try some audioquest for your front 3, or just do a search on the subject, it's been well covered hereSamsung pn64f8500

So this wiring for the rears.
I was looking the 12 awg (is that gage?) at monoprice.com and for 250ft of cl2 speaker wire its only 60 bucks, is that right? That's pretty cheap from what Ive been looking at. Its in wall too. Is it pretty good wiring?

If you have an audio store near your place you can have ask them for cables, specially if they do installations. Last week I went to Dtronics, in the Texas Valley and bought 30ft of ethereal cable, 4 wires, 14 awg at $0.75 per foot, and ethereal banana plugs at $4 the pair. Very nice cables and plugs

i bought 100ft inwall from mono, it works fine. you may want to get one of those cable sleeves in some trendy color if you're not running inwall cable inwall. -
www.signalcable.com for your fronts, save some dough and buy bulk for the rear. Tell Frank you're a Polkie for a small discount.

Some other sub cable suggestions:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-PureAV-AV50500-25-25-Foot-Subwoofer/dp/B000653HGI
http://www2.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=192406
http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=2018&sku=45450
Both of these have pretty good ratings. The sonic waves come in a variety of sizes. The belkin silver line come in two lengths, but harder to find shorter lengths. I bought the Belkin and am very pleased. 25 feet seems really long but was very nice while experimenting with sub placement. The Belkin is a discontinued line, but there is still inventory out there that is significantly discounted.
Our setups are very close to the same. The monitor 70s are impressive. Definitely takes a little while for them to break in though. Have noticed a lot of change in sound over the last month. I have about 150 hours of play on them now and they really sound good.
Looking forward to your impressions once the install is done. -
another thumbs up for blue jean cables, also cable solutions is good for sub cables, interconnects etc. They use canare cable
