No way, not even close.
At a MINIMUM you'd need to step into the 8xx line, and even then you'd want to add an amp for get the most out of them. They would likely WORK on the 8xx series, just not to their potential. On that 506 though, that would be just terrible and would most likely damage something even at low listening levels. -
Welcome to Club Polk Ysheffer!
The short inaccurate answer is yes they will play being powered by your 506. But I would NOT recommend it!
The more accurate answer is that while you will be hearing music/movies, you will NOT be hearing the speakers operate to their full potential, it would sound pretty awful, & soft. So you would end up turning up the volume to hear better & that would end up over stressing your receiver which would overheat & shut down. Hopefully before it did permanant damage to your speakers.
I would recommend before getting new speakers, you should get a new receiver that has preouts. Look for the Onkyo 7xx or 8xx series. Once you do that, then start looking at the LSI's. By then most likely the new LSI's will be out & you will be able to scoop up the old ones for a song.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -

Even with an external amp I just had problems running preouts from an onkyo 706... not saying it wont work with all of them just saying I had issues. May go with a dedicated pre now just to save any additional headaches

So what about the RTI/RTIA series ?
what will be the best match in terms of power and utilization ?AV: ONKYO TX-SR506

I'm sure you could drive the RTIA5's without any real issue and possibly the A'7's but you be pretty much in the same boat with the A9's. If your planning on mostly using your speakers for home theater, the RTIA line will work excellent for this. The whole line is 8OHM vs 4 ohm for the LSI line."They're always talking about my drinking, but never mention my thirst" Oscar Wilde
