IIRC, you need to do Options>Media Netork and enable DLNA.

Gotta have a port forwarded to that PC. then you can use WAN or LAN ip to access WebPlay, Webremote, etc.

I played around with it a bit, like somethings, didn't others. Initially comes across as really complex to setup. I saw on their site that you can watch netflix and hulu through it, but have not managed to get either one to work yet. :frown:

Have you guys looked at WINamp Pro's portable media devices?
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I am reviving this thread because I am sick of iTunes and Squeezebox not working together WELL for me. I have all MY music on a Netbook which does not have a cd drive. We have a borrowed usb cd drive right now which I have used to burn a few CD's into iTunes. I have an iTouch that I use a s a remote for the Squeeze Box Touch.

I am not sure if I need iTunes. I would like to have a simple set up so I can listen to my music over the SBT and have the artwork show up properly.

I am to much of a computer dummy to get help from all the big brains on the Squeeze Box forum. I am also cheap and would like to do this with a free program for the time being. I also do not want muck up my netbook with to much stuff. I have @ 32 gigs of music so it is not that much.

I just want to keep it Simple.

    Any suggestions?

I downloaded Media Monkey. I am trying to figure it out. If I am recording using should I use flac and if I am what should the compression setting be?

Are you ripping CDs? I think the default is level 6...that would be fine.

Since .flac is lossless there is no sonic difference with different compression rates. Only affect, afaik, is the strain on your processor to compress it more. However, I elected to use level 8 to conserve more space and since my quad core handles it just fine.

Yes, the only reason to consider different rates is storage space and decoding strain which used to be a concern on some handhelds that play .flac. Nowadays I guess most could handle even level 8 ?

You could try MC2Slim and try integrating the Squeezebox as a zone for J. River.

I got the artwork to show up using MM for all of my MP4's but the few CD's I burned using MM in flac do not show up on my SBT.

    Any thoughts?

You have to perform a music rescan everytime you rip new music and want it to show up on the SBT. You can do it from the user interface (I believe it's on the first screen).

I did. The music shows up but will not play. I think their is a setting in the squeezebox server I need to change.

Scott, for some reason, rarely, I have to unplug the SQB to reset it and then it works fine. I don't have to do this often, but every once in awhile that fixes it.
