Hey, AVS forum has an iPhone app. Too bad it's not as fun there... When is Club Polk getting one? I'll settle for some better formatting for mobile browsers... (hint, hint, , )

Or Polk could find a new forum provider that has more modern features. I don't know what the business arrangement is, though. Just putting it on my wish list. -

Ok... I guess we should let the Droids play too, that is unless Steve Jobs signs an exclusive, multi-year deal with Polk. -

What exactly is the point of mobile sites, other than to frustrate those looking to see all of a particular website? I could see the point when devices were really slow, but it's not the case anymore. It's like internet lite.

vBulletin has a mobile mode for both Android and Iphone, it's just a matter of the admin implementing it. It would definitely make browsing easier and quicker here for those users."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. The point is to both save bandwidth and make something readable on a 3 or 4 inch screen. Reading something like the Polk forums on an iPhone, for me, is painful. You're just constantly either scrolling back and forth or zooming out to the point where you can't see text. Obnoxious. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
YES, for all us DROID owners out there......
Athough, the size of the Evo and using the Dolphin browser has been the most functional browser experience I've had on a PDA phone.
"Safari" for iphone was a bad joke when I owned one. You just gotta have a larger screen and bottons IMO.
I think apps for Iphone and Android would be cool.

Ok, gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.
I got irritated when trying to navigate some sites looking to purchase things. (BB, Sears etc.) I found those mobile sites to be a supreme PIA to navigate. Guess it depends on the site. -

A good mobile site should be easier to read and navigate on your phone than the full site is. Also, it's not just the speed of the internet connection, but also the processing power of the phone to render the site. Browsing the full CP on my phone is quite painful. This site and vBulletin in general is VERY image intensive, causing very slow load times on phones.
Still, I can fudge through it, if I just have to post something on the go.Ludicrous gibs! -

I agree, some are PAINFULLY limited. Usually you can find a link to a "full site" somewhere, and it's double annoying when they don't put one.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Agreed. I post from my phone quite a bit, but after a while it hurts my eyes. The AVS app (and good mobile sites) format the text to improve readability. That's what I'm looking for. -
Vbulletin is working on a piece of software that will automatically redirect your browser to mobile friendly site. I will keep an eye on this and see how it comes along and how stable it is..stay tuned!
Awesome, Patrick! Thanks for the update and for keeping us informed. Looking forward to learning more. -
