Arcam CD73 DIVA CD Player - 9/10 - Silver - *SOLD* to Nicknice

This is the fourth or fifth piece of Arcam gear I've owned and it just makes me love UK gear even more. It's a neutral-warm sounding CDP along the lines of Rega, NAD and Cambridge Audio. I would say sonically its between CA and Rega....nice mid-bass weight, not too warm but with a crisp high end.

SPECIFICATIONS:
Wolfson WM8740 24bit 192kHz Stereo multi-bit sigma delta DAC for superb linearity and low distortion
DC coupled output with servo control for deep and controlled bass response
4th order Bessel output filter delivers detailed and smooth treble
Dual Layer PCB allows improved grounding and shorter signal paths
Custom Installation friendly design with rear panel IR control input, 12v trigger input and discrete IR commands for standby, program, repeat, display etc.
Two pairs of gold plated RCA (phono) audio outputs
Audiophile grade decoupling capacitors (Nichicon Fine Gold)
Low dissipation factor polypropylene capacitors in the output filters (WIMA)
Toroidal power transformer with independently regulated analogue and digital power supplies
Coaxial SPDIF and Toslink optical digital outputs
CD Text support
Compatible with most CD-R and CD-RW discs
Rear panel switch control for 230v / 115v operation
Remote control included
Upgrade path available to CD82T or CD93T specification

It still retains the plastic film over the front window, includes everything original and has been very well treated. I'd say about 250 hours and all connections have been treated with CAIG Pro-Gold. The chassis top plate is thick and take a peek inside....the toroid transformer and large IC heat sinks are a nice touch. Overall, the unit is of high quality and well made.

There are a couple superficial scratches on the top plate but they are hard to see. I'll pack it to withstand a nuclear blast.

Where was this the past couple of weeks when I was looking for a CDP??? I'm tempted to give it a shot, compare it to the Rotel I just bought, and sell the one I don't want.

I'll be keeping my eye on this thread.

    Good Luck!

Which Rotel did you purchase, just out of curiosity? I've owned a handful of the RCD/RCC series and they're certainly in my favorites class. The build quality is absolutely on par but I like the mean look of the later 10 series Rotel.

The sonic qualities are a draw for me. It's really hard to pick a favorite when you use Wolfson DACS, a solid topology and make it cost effective.

1072. I'm expecting it to arrive on Friday. If I'm just blown away by it, I'm going to forget about this one. Otherwise, I may have a shootout between the two...if this is still available.

The unit was capable of being upgraded to the CD73T(CD82T) or CD93T but I'm not sure if that's still possible. I'll call tomorrow just out of curiosity. The unit is discontinued, so I'm not sure how far they support their products. It may not be like Polk Audio :D

This upgraded the DACS and some internal goodies for those of us that don't want to tackle that type of thing.

Nick - Same price...I don't usually charge for shipping anyways and the price is fair. Let me know if you have any additional questions or comments.

This is a very nice piece. The Arcam stuff tends to punch above its weight class. Very natural sound. The price is fair too.

I knew this wouldn't last long enough for me. Hope I love the Rotel;)

Congrats to buyer and seller. That's a good looking CDP for about $50 less than I saw it anywhere else.
