Installed DB651S...but should I have gone with DB651?

I just realized that the 'slim' is really the protrusion of the dome not the mounting depth.

Given that DB651 has a wider freq range and a higher rated Peak + Continuous compared to DB651S, should I give DB651 a try too?

Advice/comments welcomed! :)

I went ahead and installed a pair of DB651.

And it does sound a little better with a heavier bass. The spec differences compared to the 651S are in peak power, continuous power and frequency response. The extra tweeter protrusion is just one of the more obvious cosmetic differences.

In fact, the DB651 speaker frame is slightly larger compared to DB651S. This unfortunately is not explicitly revealed by Polk Audio on their site. Even on the boxes, the measurements are the same on both the DB651 and the DB651S, which can be a bit misleading. The larger frame, along with the slight tweeter protrusion, can now explain the differences in spec.

    Bottomline...

If both 651 and 651S can fit your ride, go with DB651 instead.
