Nad t765 hd vs t747

Is there any real reason I should go with the T765 HD as opposed to the T747? The 20W of power I'm missing can't make a huge difference. Any thoughts? I'm trying to find the best possible music sound for the price with an AVR. NAD seems strong in that department.

Guess it depends on what you need. If you really desire the HDMI connectivity, then go with the 747, if not, then the 765. Either will serve you well with your setup.Polk RTi A7's FrontPolk CSi A4 CenterPolk Tsi 100's SurroundOnkyo TX-RZ50:)Oppo BDP 83 (Collecting dust)MIT Terminator 3 Speaker CableMIT Terminator 2 IC's (Oppo 2 chan)Signal Cable HT TWOEpson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080Hisense 55 U8GBelkin PF 60 Power Center

Well
747 is about 1300$
765 is about 1999$
765 "HD" includes HDMI connectivity for audio these days. The older model didn't have that but the new ones do. Any other reasons to choose 765 over the 747 with such a difference in price tag? Will they sound the same?HT and Music Rig

Sorry I didn't realize you were looking at the HD model. the 747 is more of an a quick entry into NAD with the HDMI connectivity.
The 765 will sound better, if the coin is not a problem, I would go with that.Polk RTi A7's FrontPolk CSi A4 CenterPolk Tsi 100's SurroundOnkyo TX-RZ50:)Oppo BDP 83 (Collecting dust)MIT Terminator 3 Speaker CableMIT Terminator 2 IC's (Oppo 2 chan)Signal Cable HT TWOEpson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080Hisense 55 U8GBelkin PF 60 Power Center -
I own the T765 (non HD) & I can attest to how well it sounds...spectacular for both HT & 2 channel listening. I don't have any need for HDMI because I run the 5.1 analog cables from my BD player to the T756. I never heard the 747 but I'm betting it's a great performer also. It all comes down to what features you actually need for your system."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up.

I haven't heard the T765 but I have a T747 and sounds fantastic to me, compared with my previous Denon 790. I have similar speakers to yours, although smaller, but the T747 does a great job in either two channel music and HT.

Nadar, see if you can get the price down on the T765. IMHO there is no sense in just buying the T747 because it's less expensive. At some point you may (more like you will) find yourself wanting to upgrade with the T747 and with the T765 there is no need to upgrade. As we talked about in our telephone conversation, with the T765 there is no need for outboard amplification and it sounds wonderful with music and shakes the house with it's power. So if you can get the T765 for less money you are now talking a difference of a few hundred dollars which IMHO again, I think you're better off going with the T765.

I pretty much have my heart set on the T765 and I'm just trying to justify it to myself haha. It requires a fair bit of coin but I'm sure it will definitely pay itself back to me.
I tested out my friends NAD amp on my speakers yesterday and it brought them to life. Incredible.HT and Music Rig

Haggle, haggle, haggle and haggle! You may get one for a steal by pitting several NAD authorized dealers against each other.
Hey you might even bag a floor model with full waranty and dealer perks, that would work. -

At the end I think you're right. My next piece of equipment in my wish list is an external amp, namely the T955, but plan to get LSi or maggies later so I think external amplification will be a must with my T747 -

Yeah man with the LSis or Maggies, the T955 would do ya good.
