Laptop to Receiver - Wiring Question

I just purchased a jack and wire to connect my laptop to my receiver which is positioned roughly 10 feet across the room. Is there any risk of losing sound quality due to the length of the wire from the laptop to the receiver? I know nothing about preamps and how sound gets from a laptop to a powered system, etc.

Thanks for advice on this. I would like to be able to sit in my recliner roughly 10 feet away from the system, and use the laptop to select music from ITunes.

I do not see any issues having a cord that long.
Any quality you would lose, you have already lost by even putting your music on your computer (Unless it was in lossless format)
Anyway, you should be fine with a 10 ft cord....
If you wanted the best quality you could use optical....if your computer has a port for that.

Use a digital output if possible (probably mini to rca adapter). Try not to use a stereo mini to dual rca. The length of the cord probably will be the least of your problems.

Also, you can control your computer through an iphone or ipod touch if you've got it. This way you don't have to trail wires.
